This property is beautiful. The owners clearly put a lot of time and thought into almost every detail. There was a huge basket of complimentary snacks, bathroom toiletries, and plenty of USB ports, which were all appreciated very much. The private outdoor seating area was also a really nice touch. The towels and linens were fantastic. The owner was responsive and provided a lot of information about Salem, which was helpful during our stay.
It pains me to take 2 stars off the overall rating, because this property is exceptional in so many ways. However, there was a dog barking in the home just beneath us. It yapped at all
hours, waking my daughters long before anyone on vacation wants to be awake, before the sun came up. The support slats under the mattress in the smaller room were either installed upside down or they are so worn that they bow toward the ground rather then up toward the mattress (think IKEA support slats) This bedroom was used by my daughter who said it was the most uncomfortable bed sheâs slept on. And, it made a lot of noise. Weirdly, the bed in the larger room was one of the most comfortable beds my younger child and I have had on vacation. It was as if we stayed in 2 different homes.
Unfortunately, the primary purpose of renting on VRBO is sleep, and 2 of the 3 people in my group got very little of it. All of the bells and whistles in the world donât make up for a poor sleep experience. Too bad, because itâs a gem otherwise.
