Al Mare was perfect for my husband and I and two of our college-aged children. I love the reverse floor plan so we can see the water while we eat, relax, and play games together. The house was one of the best stocked homes I’ve ever rented. They even had dog bowls and a mat. The AC worked like a champ, and I actually turned it up a bit because I was cold. The beds were very comfortable, and the bathrooms were great. The place was spotless when we arrived. Flora Bluffs is one of my favorite locations on Bald Head because you sometimes feel like you have the beach to yourselves. My kids love shell hunting as they walk towards the Shoals. Our stay was too short this time, but I will would definitely stay at Al Mare again. A beautiful home. Thank you!

We’ve stayed in several different homes on BHI and enjoyed this for our family of 5. Pros: The house was just steps from the beach - great location! Very clean, with beautiful bathrooms. Lots of light. We enjoyed playing board games (Monopoly and Scrabble). Convenient laundry, plenty of towels, shutters that kept the bedrooms nice and dark for sleeping in. No roaches or other bugs (which is unusual in our experience on BHI!). Loved the fenced yard for our dog. Cons: some carpentry issues with the recent renovation. The door handles are finicky and placed too close to the shutters, so we kept jamming our fingers every time we had to lock the door. It sounds like a minor thing to complain about, but it was pretty frustrating, and a few times, painful. We didn’t plan to cook much, but this kitchen wasn’t as well stocked as other spots we’ve stayed. The garage isn’t deep enough for the 6-seater golf cart, requiring us to wrestle with bungee cords to pull up the rear every time we wanted to open and close the doors. There were lots of bikes in multiple sizes, but I don’t think they get used often - very flat tires and some rusty parts to inflate them, and no helmets. Beach equipment was spotty. Not much in the way of toys for kids. A couple of broken boogie boards. No umbrellas or shade of any kind, so make sure you bring your own. (Several beach chairs in good condition, though!) As you can see, the cons are all minor quibbles. Overall, we had a really wonderful stay!

BHI Vacation

Overall the house was perfect for our family of 4 plus two pups! The house was clean and nicely updated. The location can’t be beat. Tyler was easy to communicate with and ver responsive. Would definitely consider staying again on our next trip to BHI!

The Best of BHI

Really can’t say enough good things about this property! The house has all the amenities we needed and more. This is our 8th year renting on BHI and this house is the best we have found. Strong wifi✅ Filtered water✅✅✅ Sharp Knives ✅ Plenty of dishes and glassware✅ Cookware✅ including a crockpot✅ Speaker✅ Beach gear✅ in excellent form and plenty of it✅ Excellent golf cart✅✅✅ And the bikes were such a nice surprise!!!!✅✅✅ Honestly, really 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Great time in a great house

This house has been newly renovated, has new furnishings, a well-equipped kitchen, and is steps from the ocean on a quiet cul-de-sac. The top floor (reverse floor plan with common areas on the top floor) is lined with windows for great views of the ocean all day long. The property manager we spoke to (they are on the island) was very responsive and even provided a (new) slow cooker for our New Year’s Day meal. Check in and check out was simple. These property managers know what they’re doing—provided an excellent experience on Bald Head.

Great Getaway

Great place to stay for a small family. Even though it was cold and windy, we loved the close access to the beach and would go every morning. Nicely decorated and had all the amenities you would need for your stay. Would love to come back in summer!

Nice property

The property was newly remodeled, nicely furnished, and had nice finishes. Great neighborhood, close to beach. We had a small problem with our golf cart not wanting to go into reverse, and the property manager quickly assessed the issue and had it fixed promptly. The only downside is there is no 1/2 bath on the upper level (a reverse floor plan with kitchen, dining, living upstairs). But if steps are not a problem for you, then you will have no negatives.

Fabulous beach house

This was a cute beach house, the house had a great location and our multigenerational group loved the layout. It was easy to get to the beach, hose off and enjoy the sunset. The property manager Tyler was super responsive and helpful when we had questions and a (mea culpa) issue. Cannot wait to go back!

All around great stay!

Our family of 4 had a great stay at this property. We have been to Bald Head many times before and it never disappoints. House has been very nicely renovated on the inside and is right across from the beach. The location is truly amazing! You have ocean views from the upper deck just off of the main living area/kitchen. Unfortunately we were there during hurricane Idalia (I think that was the name) so it shut everything down on the island for about a day and a half. Property management was terrific about bringing us a couple of board games upon request, and ponchos for the rain. I would say that is one of the only negative things about the property is that the gold cart does not have rain protection flaps that you can zip down on the sides so it is almost impossible to drive anywhere when it is heavily raining. Property manager was also excellent to communicate with us and help us with tram reservations off the island at the last minute since we somehow didn’t have them! Lastly, we purchased a membership to BHI club which was fabulous. The club has had a major expansion and renovation since we last visited the island and it was well worth it!

Our 3rd year renting in Bald Head, and this is our favorite property by a long shot. Great layout, clean, all appliances/utensils/etc. in good condition, and perfect location with easy beach access. We will be rebooking for next year!

Blissful Low Key Vacay

First trip to BHI in the off season. House was immaculate and well stocked with everything you would need. Property manager was super responsive to questions. The week was everything we needed - unplugged, peaceful, and serene in a great house!
