Our stay had the potential to be wonderful. Blue Ridge is a wonderful place with lots of activities, a vibrant downtown, and wonderful restaurants. The cabin itself has a great layout with great outdoor space on the porches and the three fireplaces are fantastic.
However, as much I want to leave a good review for this property I cannot because of the property management and the lack of cleanliness of the cabin. When we arrived at the cabin around 8:30pm, we noticed the floors looked like they had not been cleaned, there were paw/hand prints on the inside of the doors leading out to the back deck, trash beside the main living room couch and other evidences that the house had not been cleaned properly. Being that it was late we thought, “no problem”, we found the broom and swept up the main living area fairly quick. We compiled a nice pile of dirt, trash, and what looked like a kid’s “sticky” toy. Then we relaxed until time for bed.
As we prepared to go to bed, around 10:30 we found the sheets in the main level bedroom had not been changed or cleaned. This was evidenced by leaves and debris in the bed along with a soiled spot in the middle of the bed. At this point I sent a message along with a picture of the bed to the property host. While the booking description states, “You can relax knowing that our properties will always be ready for you and that we’ll answer the phone 24/7.” I did not receive a response until 8:00am the next day. At that time, the host offered to come to the house and change the sheets sometime during the day. By this point we had already washed the sheets, changed the sheets, and cleaned the floors. I said it was not necessary for her to come at this point and asked the property manager to consider refunding our cleaning fee instead. I heard nothing.
Upon leaving the house I sent images of the state we found the house in to the property manager and again asked for our cleaning fee to be reimbursed. Again, I heard nothing.
Evolve states in their description: “Evolve makes it easy to find and book properties you’ll never want to leave. You can relax knowing that our properties will always be ready for you and that we’ll answer the phone 24/7. Even better, if anything is off about your stay, we’ll make it right. You can count on our homes and our people to make you feel welcome--because we know what vacation means to you.” Unfortunately, we did not find this to be an accurate statement on our trip.
