« Planned a short getaway to hike Mount Mitchell and this place could not have been more perfectly located to the trailhead. The Lodge is newly built, and ground are impeccably well maintained. The staff was super helpful. They even came by to drop off a lighter so the firepit could be put to use. They have a common use area with a ktichen and grills that can be utilized which is an added bonus as I don’t recall reading about all they had available to make the stay above and beyond expectations....

« I like that it has old Alpine Charm that fits the highlands. They have go to great lengths to build out decks from the restaurant, have pickle bar ball court. There is a specialty food truck onsite in addition to good menu and nice bar, it gives the Pineola a vibe of youth and comfort. Although I don’t stay often I live in Newland in Summer and will make sure I get back to restaurant/ bar to relax one evening. »

« Went to check in and the place smelled terrible and was so run down, I chose not to stay. It did not feel safe. I asked for a refund from Expedia, but the property manager denied it. Expedia gave me one key credit, which was nice, and I went elsewhere. »

« The breakfast was awesome. The chef was an excellent cook. I highly recommend getting a room with the breakfast included. »

« Nice clean room. The private balcony had a great view and was really cool in the early morning but it was too hot to use the rest of the day while we were there...temps in the 90's. We love this area and had previously stayed at The Evening Shade a few times and next door at Carters Lodge. We were really sad that one is gone and the other boarded up. We were very happy to see what businesses were open and of coarse the view from the Chimney. If the weather had been a bit cooler our stay would...

« This is such a wonderful place. Very beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed sitting in the large covered porch and looking over city and French Broad River. The room was marvelous and shower was wonderful. Very clean and the bed was marvelous. We slept so well. We will be back!!!’ The host even reached out to see if we wanted to sleep in a bit to extend check out!!! Thank you for the beautiful accommodations. »
