When I pulled up and saw the signs ( not that I’m political) on the property I started to cancel, but when I went in the lady (Pat) was very pleasant and friendly. I end up staying and I must say that my stay was wonderful and very relaxing. I loved that the cabin was very clean and equipped with everything I needed. I’m planning on going back real soon.

Cozy Motel Camping
It was such a nice cozy little place. Reminded me of past times camping with family while growing up. Pat the owner went out of her way to welcome you. We would stay again. Last time in Cadillac I was about 15 some 59 years ago.

Beautiful cabins
We loved our stay at Birchwood in one of their cabins. It was decorated beautiful in Wolf scenery. The owner was very nice. She even made us popcorn and delivered it to our cabin Saturday night. They also have an outside grill you can cook on and a very nice placed to have a bonfire. Lawn chairs were also provided.

The cabins are nice with a rustic look inside, also nice and cozy. We would stay there again if we go back to see family, the cost was reasonable and the host is super nice and take pride in how the experience is. Worth staying there.

What a clean and accommodating property!! We weren’t sure what to expect, but my goodness were we blown away. These cabins are super clean and provide you everything you may need to enjoy your stay, including some extras like a gift for staying there and fresh popped popcorn!! You will not regret booking if you need to stay in the Cadillac area!! Even if you do not share the same “political passions” as the owner, you will be doing yourself a disservice if you book elsewhere!!

No it is not waterfront.I do have 100 ft frontage on Lake Cadillac with 3 docks and no beach and you can't see the lake from the campground or cabins but the lake and Docks are right down a pathway.

My son and I stayed there , and the owners were very nice. Clean and friendly atmosphere. Convenient to all the things we wanted to do. I would definitely stay there again in the future.

basic accommodations, clean but dated and as a republican, even i was really turned off by the "trump" banners, posters, signs and flags everywhere..more of a trailer park than a resort

I'm sorry you thought my place looks like a trailer park, No I have 33 full hook up sites for campers with camping trailers then I also have a 100 foot frontage on Lake Cadillac with 3 docks for customers to use for their boats and pontoons, my husband and I have owned this place for 24 years(we didn't change the name when we purchased it back in 1998) we should have though. Yes Motel #2 does need new flooring but my husband passed away 18 months ago and 3 years before that I was his sole caregiver, so I have had no time or finances to get it done, but that is the reason why I am cheaper than other places here in Cadillac West.I don't have flags everywhere as you stated, they were just on the front of my house. That's what is so great about America-FREE Speech.Hope to see you and your puppy again soon :)

Do NOT stay here if you don’t support Trump!!!!
Cabin was very small as were the beds. The owner has extreme OCD and put laminated notes on absolutely everything. The walls are overly decorated. If you do not support Trump you do NOT want to stay here!!! The owner is an insane supporter and it is EVERYWHERE. I felt like I was staying at my grandparents house as a kid and was afraid to touch anything. It all was just complete overkill.

The first picture you see when you book is of my place with the flags. It is not everywhere. I'm sorry you didn't see it. There were 2 people 2 double beds. And a dog that you didn't tell me about. You flooded my bathroom which I didn't charge you for. You totally trashed my whole motel room, which I didn't charge you for. Check out was 11am and you stayed way past that time which I also didn't charge you for.Next time you book somewhere I suggest you look at the pictures and also the picture of the room that you'd be staying in. Maybe then you'd of been much happier.

The cabins were ok for the price. We stayed in cabin 2 and had no kitchen area. My sister was in cabin 4 and for the same price, hers was much more efficient! Also, lots of Donald Trump propaganda. The "honk for trump" sign was not suitable for everyone and added to the busy traffic noise even more. We won't be going back there, since we are not Trump supporters.

Hi Melissa Your room was a motel room It has description when you made your reservation. It only has a microwave coffee maker and small fridge Her room states that it has a kitchen. I'm sorry it was confusing. Your room was $119 and her room was $135. Not same price. Thank you for staying at Birchwood resort

Clean but lots of highway noise
Very clean, comfortable and cozy. I was pleasantly surprised at all of the "extras" in the room. It seems they go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. My only complaint was the noise from traffic on a very busy highway. It woke me up all night (even over the AC fan on high) and I didn't get much sleep during my 3 night stay. I won't be returning because of this. If noise doesn't bother you then I highly recommend.

Thank you for your wonderful review. I can't do anything about the road noise , my place is on an M road, as it states in my address 6545 E. M-115, so it is going to be a little noisier. I'm sorry for your bad experience with the noise but I'm glad you liked the room.

Not a very pet friendly place
Cabin was very small but cute and clean. They advertise "pet friendly". As soon as manager found out we had a dog she started complaining about fur and rolling her eyes. Seems it is not a very pet friendly place after all. We will definitely not be going back on our next trip to Cadillac.

Sorry for your bad experience, i am pet friendly for a fee and it states that fee on all the booking sites. Next time you book somewhere send the owners a message telling them you have a pet or when you check in tell them then , so you can be charged accordingly . There is a lot of extra cleaning involved when there are pets, and my fee of $15 a night is a lot lower than putting them in a kernel. Thank you for staying at Birchwood resort and sorry about the non communication.

I rented a very cute tidy cabin. I have everything I needed including Apple plugs for power cords for cell phones and what not. There was a little gift of freshly popped popcorn in my door in the evening which I thought was very sweet and thoughtful. The only thing I found it unappealing was the large amount of political propaganda flags signs etc. at the office.

Nice cabins, not so nice owner
The property is nice. The owner not so much. Unfortunate Cute cabins, clean. Access to the lake. We invited our daughter and grandkids over for a bbq and bonfire and got yelled at for not getting permission ahead of time. We told her no one was staying with us. She didn't want us using her electric and water. We were planning to come back again, but not now. Too bad.

Thank you for your review and for staying with me Sorry for your bad experience, but normally when someone stays at a mom and pop place they let the owners know that they will be having visitors stop by. If you would of let me know your experience at Birchwood could of went a lot better. I would of told you where your visitors could park instead of me asking you to move your vehicles because you were parked in my other guests spot. I would of also told you at that time that there is a fee to have visitors of $2 a piece. So hopefully you'll come back and if you do, please inform me of visitors.

Best stay ever!!!
This was the best night sleep I have had staying in a hotel. It was the friendliest, and cleanest place we have stayed in. The cabin was so welcoming and comfortable and so quiet you didn't even know the road was near.

Birchwood Resort Is The Perfect Peaceful Getaway
Birchwood is amazing and the owner, Pat, was absolutely a gem. The cabin was quaint, cozy, and clean. From a stocked supply of coffee to the little homemade embellishments found even on the toilet paper rolls, there was not a detail overlooked! I am highly impressed and after three peaceful and relaxing nights, I am sad to be leaving. The wifi was fast and reliable, the cable channels were numerous and came in crystal clear, and the little cozy fireplace was nice bonus. Thank you so much Birchwood Resort! I highly recommend this resort for all who seek a quiet little getaway and I can honestly say that I will absolutely be staying again....many times over!

Shabby Quaint Weekend Getaway
Cabin was rough on the outside, but quaint on the inside. Everything was clean and tidy inside, kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and utensils. Bed was firm and pillows were perfect. We were looking for a stand alone cabin, and had a wing off a multiple unit building. The business had several signs noting extra charges for items normally comped in anyother places ive stayed. The owner was delightful. But the help seemed put out. They really need updated signage. We passed it up twice even with gps. Reflectors either side of the driveway would have been appreciated.

Hi Patti Thank you for your review. First off, I have paid a contractor $25,000 To put on a new roof and siding on in February. But due to Covid, all his jobs are pushed back . It wasn't a multiple use cabin there is one attached to it. Please keep in mind that this was a cabin NOT a motel room where everything is included. All the other cabins around us, make you bring your own bedding and towels and all your supplies. And they charge you for the use of the kitchen. Everyone else that has stayed with us in the past 22 years is amazed how much we offer inside our cabins. Maybe next time reserve a motel room where all is included. So you mean when you've stayed in other CABINS they comped you for towels, all toiletries, the use of the kitchen, without you cleaning up after yourself? Please tell me where these places are at? I truly would like to know. About the signage, that is all our township would allow. If you couldn't find us fast enough or if it was hard for you, you could of called us. There is also 2 American flags to mark our driveway.
