We were swept away, literally, from the storm that hit Capitola on Dec.38, 2023. Prior to having to leave, though, we enjoyed the accommodations and the location of Capitola Village for one night. It had many kitchen amenities, a large fridge, and a lovely fireplace. Just a note about the rooms. The back room is adjacent to the alleyway, and if people are congregating or moving stuff, you can hear them while you are trying to sleep. Also, the room with the bunkbeds is really small. Hard to see on the listing. It's tough for 4 people to stay in that room. My husband and I squeezed in, but note that this is probably a better room just for kids. The house was partially boarded up as well because of the storm, which limited our view. We notified management when the storm started, and they did call us back.
We had elderly people and children, and with water rising, it was a bit scary. Also, you can't park there, so getting our cars and trying to get our stuff to evacuate quickly was difficult. We were caught off guard by the boarded-up doors and sandbags when we arrived. Some notice of the storm and what to do would have been prudent prior to arrival. They did answer their phone but made some bad decisions asking us to return the parking pass during the storm was not great. But they did put us up in a nice place which we appreciated.
