„Totally confused Receptionist. Claiming only one room of two booked, at much higher rate. Claiming all Expedia's fault. No, it wasn't. Their Reservation was clear, 2 doubles with bath and breakfast. So the 2nd room was freed with shared bathroom and both pretty battered. Expedia had already charged for both ordered rooms, hotel wanted to further charge, which I rejected. Beautiful area, also hotel location at the river bridge and parking. Look for another accomodation. Not worth the hassle.“

Both were clean, tastefully decorated and had small en-suites, one with a bath and the other a shower. The rooms were very warm. There was no air con but we opened a window and a fan was provided. „A lovely, characterful old building on the edge of the Lake District, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, helping us feel right at home. It is very convenient as a base, being on the road between Penrith and Pooley Bridge with a direct bus route between the two, going as far as Windermere, and for drivers it is a good place to access most parts of the Lake District, being not far from the M6 and A66, making access to Carlisle and the Scottish borders equally easy. „Tolles Hotel, und toller Service. Allerdings hat das was in der Reservierung angegeben war nicht gestimmt. Wir haben ein familienzimmer mit separaten Wohnzimmer gebucht. Die Unterkunft hatte allerdings "nur" einzelne Zimmer. Das war auch vollkommen in Ordnung, aber wir haben halt etwas anderes gebucht und in unseren Augen auch etwas anderes bezahlt. Dennoch ist der Preis für die reale Unterkunft in Ordnung... aber halt nicht das uns versprochene Schnäppchen...“
