We were in town for our granddaughter’s wedding. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. The breakfast was the best we’ve ever had. Great selection. Our room was very nice, the staff were friendly and helpful. We will be back.

The property itself is nice. It's clean, convenient, and appears to be well maintained. The woman at the front desk was about as friendly as an grouchy pitbull. She offered no additional information other than what floor my room was on and where the elevator was. No wifi password, no "have a glass of cold water" that was across the lobby, and no info about breakfast. It was as if I was imposing on her.

We had a very nice stay at the English Inn, but there were a couple of “bumps.” The staff was very friendly and the breakfasts were good—the selection varied slightly each morning, which was nice. The bed was very comfortable and parking was convenient. Also loved the 4pm-6pm complimentary coffee, tea, pound cake & cookies served in the lobby area! The pool is very large, but in desperate need of updating, which would be an awesome improvement. We were confused about housekeeping service. We stayed Weds-Mon, and our room was cleaned Thurs & Fri. When it wasn’t cleaned Sat & Sun, I inquired at the front desk and was told there is no housekeeping on the weekend. Seemed odd, but I wished I’d known ahead of time because the shampoo, conditioner & body wash provided wasn’t adequate for 2 adults. But that was a minor inconvenience and overall, our stay was good.

Perfect location. Close to everything. Morning breakfast solid and coffee and water all day at entrance. Staff was always so friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and the price was so reasonable. We will most definitely be back and recommend to others.

Great location for ease to get to everything in Charlottesville quickly. Newly pasted rooms. Very clean. We loved kitchen option and plenty of kitchen essentials to make small meals. Decent breakfast everyday in designated area. Very clean and always replenished options. We will definitely stay again.

Nice hotel. Very convenient to drive in and out of for a Charlottesville business trip. Very quiet and very close to Bodo's Bagels (big plus). The rooms were very clean, well kept, and I enjoyed my brief visit. Breakfast is adequate and as advertised.

Great for an overnight in CVille. Clean, updated room and friendly staff. Only suggestion is to start breakfast a bit earlier for the early risers but Bodo's was a good substitute.

The lobby, elevator and hallways smell like stale cigarette smoke. Like it was a cigarette smoking property for years and then they finally stopped…but not before the stench had seeped into the walls and furniture. Thankfully the rooms had been completely renovated since the cigarettes, or we wouldn’t have been able to stay at this place. I would never stay here again.

Hotel has a nice character to it. Upon checking in, we were offered delicious peanut butter cookies and nice spicy herbal tea. Room is clean, pool was a great addition and had a very warm and clean water.

It was a good location to visit Monticello the next morning. The street noise was too much, and we asked for a different room. The breakfast room had a very nice gentleman there, who was the most welcoming of our entire stay. He did not rush us out as he began cleaning up, and he visited with us about his lawn. He enhanced our experience.

Close to UVA but need to Uber or walk quite a distance. Many restaurants near hotel. Old English style hotel. Clean and comfortable but could use some renovation/upkeep.
