My son and i usually go backpacking every year to a new National Park and stay in a tent. My back wouldn't allow that this year but we didn't want a hotel. This place was perfect, and what a step up from a tent. Totally secluded up on a mountain with a killer view. Two mattresses, coffee machine with coffee and he supplied water. Outlets, wifi, stove, and small fridge. We loved it!! I wish there were more of these around other National Parks. You absolutely need a 4WD to get up the mountain. We didn't do the lake hike right near the cabin because we couldn't get enough of Denali. The park is just 15 minutes away and in between is the 49th state brewery that had great vide and dependable food.
The cabin was exactly what we were looking for! It was quaint, quiet and secluded. We felt like we were truly in nature. The drive to the cabin wasnât the greatest, even with a 4x4 vehicle. It had rained all day and was still raining when we arrived so it made it a little more tricky. Ultimately we decided to park and hike in, in the rain. A 4x4 vehicle with higher ground clearance than a Jeep Grand Cherokee is definitely recommended if there is any chance of rain in the forecast.
Knocking it for parking is kind of harsh since it is clear that if you do not have four wheel drive it will be a hike. But it is difficult to know where you are supposed to park if hiking up to the cabin because just a single one way road with no real turnouts. The cabin itself has everything you need , it is rustic but it is fine. But it was raining when we were there and hiking that hill was not fun in the rain. Just know you need a 4 wheel drive to make it easier which is stated in the description
This cabin allows you the Alaskan Experience without the tourist. Extremely accurate description to include the 4WD requirement. The 2WD parking is at the bottom of the hill. Host is absolutely amazing. These small dry cabins are great and really allow you to have solitude in the mountains. Amazingly close to Denali which is great too. I will definitely be back to visit and use this property again. Even the hike to the lake from the property was enjoyable.
Was exactly as advertised- a little nicer - nice little place / if you donât have 4 wheel drive - you do have a 10-15 Lung-leg work out before you get to cabin - Dave was prompt and helpful and friendly
The perfect quaint cozy cabin in the woods. I loved hearing the birds and seeing the mountain view. The walking trail to the lake was very nice, too. Definitely would stay again!
My stay with Dave was incredible. There's no other way to describe it. 4x4 and some rough road competency are mandatory for driving right up to the cabin, but you quickly get comfortable with the drive. I couldn't ask for a better place to stay near Denali park. Dave was kind and helpful, much like many folks in the great state of Alaska!
I love staying in this cabin. was wonderful and relaxing. we had the best time and David was a great landor. The only thing is we renting a 4-wheel drive the next time. But we didn't mind the exercise and haking in nature.
This was a fabulous place to stay for a few days. Easy access to Denali, of course, but also a beautiful place in its own right, with great views of the surrounding area and a handsome lake within easy walking distance. You need a 4x4 vehicle to drive up to the cabin, as the description explains, but the owner kindly offers a ride both to and from the cabin for check-in and check-out. The place offers a real "get away from it all" experience, and the price in unbeatable. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to the area. Thanks for a great stay!
We had such a great time! Disconnecting from the real world with the simplicity of the cabin was honestly one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska. The property is beautiful and Dave was super friendly/helpful! The walk up the driveway is a doozie but it didnât bother us at all. We would most definitely rent again.
There was nothing I did not like. It was one of the best places we stayed. It wasn't fancy or for those who need to be pampered. The owner was a really nice and extremely interesting person.
We had a really great time, wish we could have stayed one more night. Host was very helpful. Itâs also right down the street from our favorite restaurant 49th Estate.
The cabin we stayed in was very very clean along with the outhouse. A beautiful view of the mountains from the window. Had to use four wheel drive but worth it.
The only problem was the bunk beds. Not good for elderly who can't climb. Handles for climbing would be good. We had to sleep head to foot on the bottom bunk.
Would I stay again? Absolutely!!
