The views from the porch is amazing. Some of our hikes to summits had a less beautiful view. Nice place with cute decor and everything you need to cook and hang out. The mountain road up is worth the ride.We really loved our trip and stay.
We had an emergency and were unable to stay. The host was wonderful and maintained great contact. She went above and beyond to accommodate the situation.
This is the most beautiful cabin you could ever wish for! It is secluded, quiet, and the view from the top is even better than the national park! The drive up the mountain is a little intimidating if youâre not used to driving up mountains like us. It is about 20 minutes up and the closest option for food is about 20 minutes away. That being said you should pack meals to eat in a cooler, we only packed sandwiches and a few snacks but wish we had packed any food we might of wanted. The owners are very nice and accommodating, we really enjoyed waking up to the sunrise over the mountains and plan to go back for another trip!
Being so high up, the cabin's deck offered unparalleled mountain views. The sunrise, sunset, dusk, dawn, night sky seeded with stars kept us entertained with ever changing colors and visitors (e.g.: deer, woodpeckers, titmouse, etc.) The cabin is well equipped with cooking utensils and offers plenty of storage as well. Its proximity to Shenandoah NP is a huge plus. Our hosts were very quick to respond to messages and easing any concerns we had. We cannot wait to be back.
My husband and I took the weekend to get away and this was the perfect place. It is a trek up the mountain and worth it. Very clean and the hosts were friendly and approachable. Definitely recommend. Just be aware that the drive up is gravel road and at times steep. Best have AWD or 4 WD.
Property and hosts are superb!! We had a great time with a beautiful view. The sunrises were awesome. The drive in a little tricky but once in well worth it and after a time or two not bad at all. House was quiet and secluded. Very nice for time with my wife. We were 1/2 hour from the park, were treated very well and would highly recommend this property to anyone!! It was wonderful !!
My husband and I truly enjoyed our weekend stay at the Guesthause. Tessy and her husband are great hosts. Their property is the perfect getaway from everyday life and we canât wait to be back. You wonât regret booking your stay here. The view and peace you feel from being immersed in nature is refreshing. Youâll never want to leave.
View was amazing, house had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Hosts were very responsive and helpful. The community pool is very nice as well!
The trip up the mountain did seem daunting; however, I believe it was more due to not knowing what to anticipate based on the reviews. The descent was not difficult at all, most likely because we were more familiar with the road
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Guesthaus and our host Tessy was very friendly and helpful.
The view was breathtaking, and the mountain top was astonishingly quiet! On our second day there, it POURED for about a half hour, then the clouds appeared in the valley and over the mountains, At one point earlier in the day, the fog rolled in and was so dense you could just barely make out a tree that was on the property about 30 yards away. The fog quickly cleared and the valley became visible again. That same night, the sky directly above us cleared and opened up to some very bright stars that were just amazing. As we gazed at the stars above us, we could also watch a huge lightning storm to the east. Not too long after, the full moon emerged from the storm clouds and dominated the night sky for the remainder of the evening. It was a day of very contrasting nature.
This trip was one of our favorite VRBO trips, and we would highly recommend it to anyone who just wants to get away from it all, and get into it all (nature).
PS. There is a clock on the microwave that is not set, but otherwise there are no clocks in the Guesthaus that we were aware of. I must say, we never once gave time any thought until we had to leave. Great touch Tessy and Steve!
The Guest house was really nice. Had everything you would need to stay and good attention to detail. The view is the main selling point. Easy to hang out at, which is good because....
The drive up the mountain is no joke. A solid 5 miles of narrow dirt roads curving back and forth and up some pretty steep slopes. Plan on 20-25 minutes both up and down from the base of the mountain. You'll likely only be doing it once a day.
This was the only downside to staying at this location.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Guesthaus and recommend it to others. Hosts Tess and Steve made sure that you have everything that you need for a great stay. We used the grill as well as did some basic cooking in the kitchen. A new larger refrigerator/freezer was recently installed. I suggest stocking up (or eating before you get up there) because the nearest grocery store is at least 25 minutes away. The drive up the mountain is steep but the gravel is well packed. We did not have any troubles going up in a pick-up.
We did spend two days in Shenandoah National Park and looked forward to relaxing on the deck taking in the views while listening and watching the birds at the end of the day.
The location is PRIME!! Loved the view of the valley below and the mountain ranges around it. Now I know why its called the Blue Ridge Mountains. Every sunrise was different and was able to view a Strawberry moon! Was also privileged to view a wedding at the winery down the mountain from the property!! Again, I loved it!
My wife and myself both enjoy nature, and this place did not disappoint. Honestly picking the place strictly on the view alone did not disappoint. We looked forward to waking up early for the sun rise and coffee, enjoyed the winding ride up and down the mountain, and counted the minutes until sunset just to watch every evening.
I spent a week on a self-meditation retreat. The location and the facilities were beautiful. The view is amazing - the pictures are accurate. Tessy and Steve were great hosts - very helpful. I got to walk part of the Appalachian Trail nearby - saw a bear cross the path. There are wineries nearby, though I did not go to any. Great place for a getaway.
Itâs hard to imagine a more serene setting than this. If youâre looking for an escape into nature while having the accessibility to a great home to return to, go ahead and book it. Tessy was an amazing host and went above and beyond to answer any questions or concerns I had. The Guesthouse is in close proximity to the main house, but the hosts give you the privacy to enjoy your stay, although Iâm sure it wouldâve been a pleasure to meet Tessy and Steve. This place is 5/5 for a reason.
Nice place to stay, great view and secluded. Would come again but would not recommend coming up the mountain for your first time late at night with fog! Lol 4wd highly recommended!
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Guesthaus for a long weekend to enjoy relaxation and bonding time. The property is peaceful, has a breathtaking view, and is more than we could have hoped for. It is clean, well equipped, and welcoming.
The gravel road up the mountain sounded daunting reading reviews, but it is nothing to worry about and added to our fun and adventure! We made the drive daily in my Tucson that was even needing maintenance, haha.
We planned activities before leaving for the trip and enjoyed heading out early to explore caverns and the local towns and to do some hiking. If we had not already had a plan, Tess and Steve were available with great recommendations.
Thank you Tess and Steve for your hospitality and starting a fire for us after a long day of hiking. It was a special way to end our last night at the Guesthaus. It was wonderful meeting you and the dogs.
This trip was everything I had hoped for and more, and I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. We hope to be back very soon!
The Guesthaus is a special gem and is great for a peaceful and private getaway. I can't recommend it enough.
The property was nice Great views from a lovely deck if it is not foggy. The drive up and down the mountain is hair raising and i would not recommend doind it at night
