We stayed for three nights and wished it was longer! This home sits right on the edge of Lake Alder. Occasional boats and fisherman come and go, and it is very quiet and peaceful. We brought paddle boards to use, and also used one of the ones supplied by the owner. The home worked well for three of us. The kitchen was well supplied, beds were comfortable, AC worked well during the hot days. Early mornings on the covered deck, enjoying the view and reading and a good cup of coffeeâŠ..perfect!
We had a great time and were impressed with the private lakeside setting, the facilities and amenities, including the bunkhouse, outdoor bathroom, hot tub, fire pit, large top end BBQ grill, covered patio with Edison lights, 3 baths, fully equipped kitchen and more. When we needed to contact the host, response time was very fast.An area that could be improved was the cleanliness of the hardwood floor. At the back entrance from the patio into the house was a plaque requesting shoes be removed. We honored this but within minutes of moving around inside our socks were turning black from the dirty floor. We were charged a cleaning fee when we booked the place and are not very happy about that.
Property on the lake was lovely. House was great. Only issue we experienced was that the upper bunks in the bunk house did not have rails. We had young adults using them so they were aware but that seems worrisome if children were expected to sleep there. Other than that I highly recommend the place: nice location, lake is lovely and the management team were helpful and friendly. Thanks for a great stay!
Better than last time (2021), we enjoyed the upgrades, such as the deck cover, leather furniture, and hot tub. We stayed 12 days, kayaked 3 times, and witnessed an amazing storm! Exploring the area was fun, and since we didn't have reservations to enter Mt Rainier, we didn't get to do that, until one day when we went AFTER 3pm and enjoyed our 42nd anniversary dinner at Longmire, National Park Inn.
We loved everything about our stay. We only turned on the TV once! There was almost no one on the lake. It was quiet and peaceful. The weather and hot tub were perfect. The floating pad at the dock was great for the kids and the dock was great to store our boat. We only have one complaint is that the bunk beds were not that sturdy, but the kids just slept in the bottom and not the top. Other than than we loved it and are already planning on coming back next summer :)
The view on a cloudy/rainy day is so beautiful and serene, it does not compare to a sunny day and Iâm glad we got to witness it! The house is well kept although I do wish the furniture in the living room was more comfortable and one bed creaks loudly at the slightest movement. The view is amazing to wake up to, hot tub was great for chilly nights, being out on the water was fun and itâs very private so you donât see many people. The large covered deck allows you to relax and gaze at the scenery even when itâs raining. We brought our bikes and it was fun riding along part of the lake. I loved this place so much it was hard to leave.
This lakeside cabin getaway was just what we needed! The view of the lake was incredible! As soon as you walked in the door it felt like your own cozy cabin. We really enjoyed the hot tub as well. The beds were cozy and the kitchen was stocked with everything you needed. We would definitely come back!
Huge yard and deck area, would have been great with warmer/drier weather. Great view from the livingroom and master bedroom. I wasnt a fan of the bed (very creaky and the firm type memory foam that you eventually sink into). Kitchen was well equiped. It did feel a bit crowded with five adults. Again the cold/wet weather limited spreading outdoors.
This place has everything you need. Was very clean. My in-laws were in town and wanted to go to a lake. We enjoyed the fire pit, dock and paddle boards, hot tub, games, and gas grill. There is a cove on other side of the lake with hundreds of salamanders around you and my daughter loved venturing over there. Plenty of shaded seating to sit outside and enjoy. We went over to Elbe and Eatonville. Next time probably will venture to Mt.Ranier. Great location and thank you!
My friends and I came to WA for a hiking trip in Mt. Rainier. This house is the perfect location which is literally almost a hop, skip, and step away from the entrance which made it super convenient. The home is beautiful, clean, and nice appliances and even the beds are Tempur-pedic (but personally Iâm not a have but great added touch!)
Communicate with the rental manager was not the best. I reached out prior to confirm about the hot tub to avoid any issues and never heard back. The manager also text me at 330PM day of saying the entrance to the separate bunk bed room was blocked and I responded less than a he later saying we needed it open for one of our guest. However, she didnât respond until at 12am when we landed and our friend had to sleep in the living room. It did get fixed the next day but I just felt so bad that my friend had to sleep on the couch. The internet is terrible, donât expect good WiFi ( no one could stream Netflix or use WiFi on our phones, even though the manager stated it worked fine when she was there). We just played board games instead. Also the hot tub states to only stay in 15 min then get out for an hour so it can reheat. Iâve never used a hot tub like that and this was one of the main reasons we got the house. I suggest putting full disclosure on your add about this. Iâm sure it has to do with costs and being eco friendly so we only used it twice because it was cold outside and didnât want to get wet again after drying off.
When I was communicating with the manager she made us feel like an inconvenience.
I hope she was just having a one off day and her approach but we truly loved the property and would reconsider staying again in the future
We had a great post-Thanksgiving getaway with all the privacy and beautiful scenery you could want. The home had all the standard amenities needed - they even had coffee for the classic coffee pot! The hot tub was a nice touch and there was a grocery store about 20 minutes back in town to stock up on supplies. I hope to stay here again when we can take advantage of the provided paddle boards on the lake! Thanks for an easy check in process and beautiful home!
The lake is everything! We loved swimming and enjoying the paddle boat and SUPs. The yard was perfect for playing frisbee with our pup, and we spent a lot of time relaxing on the deck.
My only feedback would be to freshen up some linens and towels, quite mildewy, though that didn't dampen our experience much!
Amazing Place & Location - could use a little attention to cleaning
This is one of the most serene and beautiful places we have ever stayed. Quiet and calming with bald eagles passing by overhead and beautiful Alder Lake outside the front door every morning. My favorite place to have morning tea in my life so far!
We were a little disappointed with the amount we paid for a cleaning fee considering we had to do some significant cleaning ourselves before we could even settle in. For example the large lake-facing windows were covered with streaks and splatter and doggy nose prints. We don't mind the animals at all, but it does significantly detract from the glorious view when trying to stare through dog slobber reflecting off the afternoon sun. In addition, we intended to bake a pizza, but the oven and grates were sticky and covered in charred food and splatter, so we ran an oven cleaning cycle ourselves and vacuumed out/wiped down the oven so we could use it. Lastly, the hot tub had obviously not been cleaned recently. I expect a little dirt/debris in the bottom of course, but the amount of visible particles floating in the water column throughout the tub was disgusting. The water line was inundated with grime and sticky with old dirt and debris.
We will certainly be back if the owners will have us! We had a lovely time overall, and this is the perfect getaway for some reflection and solitude in the winter. We just wish that we could have utilized the hot tub!
We brought our boat and stayed on the water 95% of our stay. It was awesome, we go to Hawaii every year but this is equal without all the travel if you are water bugs like us. Amenities were perfect, house perfect. We are so excited we booked another week in 3 weeks... thank you so much for sharing your home with us.. we tried to leave it as we found itđ„°đ„°đ„°
