We went hiking a couple of times with our dog (who loved it also) and spent the rest of the time in the hot tub and around the fire pit.

My wife saw a few bears while walking our dogs but the bears couldn't have cared less.We had a problem when a contractor severed the water line while upgrading the cable in the area but when I notified Sliding Rock they sent someone promptly to replace the filter which became clogged with sediment.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, good. The road to get to the cabin was long and rough going up the mountain. The beds are very high and require small step to get into the beds. The downstairs bed is also very squeaky.We had a lot of trouble accessing the TV thru YouTube as we don't have a YouTube account and although NetFlix was available, we weren't able to log in with our credentials.Lastly, the gas stove igniters would continuously run when you lit one of the burners and never shut off until you turned off the burner which was quite annoying. this needs to be repaired if not already done.

I'm a little late with the review, but hey it's better late than never for such wonderful cabin. We stayed at the cabin late March. This cabin is made for pet lovers. The fenced yard creates a no stress staying for pet owners. I was pleasantly surprise with all the amenities for pets. The pet bed, toys, blanket, treats, enclosure and gate are provided. It was peaceful, secluded and clean. The enclosed back porch with a mini built in table overlooking a small stream is a plus. We had dinner on the porch every night. We hiked down one day and enjoyed collecting rocks from the stream. Overall it was an amazing stay. We will definitely be back!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Laurel Overlook was a lovely peaceful cabin for us and our three pups. Our pups loved the dog toys, the treats, and the fenced in yard. The cabin was appointed beautifully. It was very clean and comfortable. We all felt at home. The back porch was where we spent most of our time beautiful view of the mountain trees. We could not use the screened in upstairs porch because the dogs do not do multiple steps, so bug spray was a must for me! Although we didn’t use the hot tub area, it was very inviting. The road getting up to the cabin was a bit difficult but we made it without incident. Loved the seclusion! We will definitely be back.

Beds comfortable, WiFi security listed as weak...might want to upgrade that, but so far back in the woods, don't think anyone was around to hack it. The road in needs some work...would not try it without an AWD or 4WD vehicle, particularly when raining, as it was when we were there. Very peaceful & quiet. We did not bring a dog, but the fence is so good, not even a little dog could get out.

It is an area that is hard to access to follow your dog to pick up after. Also, if your dog tends to eat stuff off the ground, there are hundreds of mushrooms inside the fenced area. If you are afraid of heights, you may not like the beds. They require a stool to get in to. The cabin was extremely clean and set up very well with items to make your stay easier.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 3rd cabin stay in the area and this cabin was by far the best we've stayed in. It is fantastic for dog owners and was well equipped, clean and well-maintained. The only negative I have to share is that the drive up to the cabin is treacherous and I would argue almost impossible in a regular sedan car. Were it not for the concerns about the drive up to the cabin, I would have booked it again before we left.The road to the cabin is long, winding, mostly unpaved and has significant bumps. We had rain and freezing temperatures and it made the drive up even worse.

The dogs loved it! The cabin was well stocked with all the kitchen things you need! One of our dogs loved all the toys! The others are older and don’t play much anymore, so they just enjoyed napping and taking walks. The front step was a bit hard for our older 2 dogs, but we found a couple 4x4’s and made another lower first step and all was good. The people beds are VERY high, we had to use the steps to get it, which might be the only “issue” with the cabin. Great place and LOVE the fact we could bring our large dogs (77-90 lbs). U

LOL Fun

The cabin was beautiful & so well equipped for people like me & my mom who didn't plan to leave for the whole trip. The grill worked great & we had many meals prepared on it. The kitchen was very well stocked- & we love to cook. They had multiple coffee makers including a Keurig, we had brought our own but we didn't need to unpack it :) They also had a blender, which I don't find often in the cabins I rent. The beds, although high, were very comfortable & stools were provided for getting in & out of them. The best thing about the cabin was how well suited it was for our dogs! The fenced in yard was great, it came with a large crate, with a crate pad, a dog bed that one of our Dachshunds loved, food & water bowls a plenty, & a basket overflowing with toys. Our pups might've had more fun than we did. We would love to come back in the winter to enjoy the hot tub & outdoor fire pit (which we did start & it was easy). All in All out Fourth of July at LOL was wonderful, although far too short lived. We can't wait to get back!

THE PERFECT CABIN AND SO PRIVATE!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Laurel Overlook is such a great cabin! As soon as we walked in, my husband, our pups and I felt right at home. The furnishings, decorations and property were amazing. I have to say, this is the cleanest cabin we have stayed in to date and so comfy. We love that we had no traffic passing the cabin and that we were able to hike down to the stream below. We brought our dog crate, dog beds, bowls, etc. but ended up not needing the crate as there was one waiting for us. There was also a dog bed, toys, blanket and treats. The kitchen was nicely stocked with nice pots, pans, dishes, coffee maker, etc. We went into town several times to explore the Antiques stores, local restaurants and businesses. This is not our first time staying with Sliding Rock Cabins and we have always been very pleased with the cabins and the staff. Thank you for always being top notch! Bobby and Wanda-North Port, FL

Amazing Getaway

The kitchen is awesome! Stocked better than my own kitchen at home!! All you need to bring is your food/beverages. The bed was comfortable and provided restful sleep. The bed is high but steps are provided. The hot tub was fantastic after a day of golfing or just exploring the nearby towns. Our favorite spot was the back porch. We had our meals at the high top overlooking the trees. Each morning we enjoyed listening to the multiple birds that were beautifully singing. In the evenings, the rocking chairs were our reading chairs. The staff had made preparations for our pups however they decided to stay home with our son. They would have loved it here. A nice worry free fenced area is provided for your fur babies. The area is very secluded which we appreciated. Very peaceful!! We will definitely book again when in the area. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
