« The Gillen House is a perfect destination if you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful getaway that is close to Athens and not too far away from Atlanta. The hosts, Edward and Cynzia, were very welcoming and made us feel at home. The food at breakfast was excellent. Especially the steaks and sides that we had for dinner on our arrival evening. « The hotel shares a parking lot with a rather large liquor store and is across the street from a homeless shelter. I listened to a very loud altercation in the parking lot around 11:00pm.
Otherwise, the room was OK. We were on the 3rd floor, in a room kind of in a corner. The door would get stuck on the wall as you entered, but that kind of worked out loading and unloading the luggage carrier. The room itself was large, but the lighting was terrible.

« We originally booked the hotel because my son was in an accident and hospitalized. However he was discharged and we wanted to cancel the reservation but we were unable to cancel due to Expedia cancellation policy. Kipp offered to give us credit to use on a future stay from the property itself however we did not have any plans for a future stay so we decided to stay the night.
The room was adequate. Parking was limited. We missed the breakfast but the morning desk attendant made coffee for us »
