It was a super comforting home in a beautiful area. Loved all the wild life as well as the cats and donkey. Owner was super friendly and easy to contact. Feels very out in your own space but also close enough to some towns.
You can tell Jill really loves this place and it is a cozy little retreat. Be warned there is no internet or cable. There are some tv channels but many don't come in well. There is cell service. That said, it is so cute!! There are so many antiques inside and out to look at. The two cats are adorable. The donkey is so friendly and feeding him carrots was a highlight. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star rating on cleanliness was that it could use a deep clean and sone upgrade on the appliances - but, its understood that this is a farmhouse and some thinga like bugs, dust, and old tyme charm are bound to happen. It wouldn't deter us from staying again.
This property was heaven on earth for me. After a few stressful months, a 5 night stay in this wonderful farmhouse on some of the most beautiful, peaceful property I've come across in the Midwes, is exactly what my soul needed. We loved walking the property with our dogs, sitting under the shade tree for coffee, reading, and relaxing while hearing nothing but the sounds of nature.I loved spoiling Dexter and the cats. I saw such an incredible variety of birds during the day, and the star gazing at night is was the perfect way to end each day Jill and Jim are just the kindest people and such sweet hosts. I took a weaving lesson from Jill and I highly recommend doing that if you have the time. Not only did I discover just how much I love weaving (new hobby unlocked!), i thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. Thank you so much for sharing such a special place with us. This is a vacation I'll never forget.
Good stay. Home is as described. Heads up, no WiFi and our AT&T did not work there. WiFi is not listed as an amenity so thatâs on me for assuming. Great communication with owner.
House was comfortable and clean. Surroundings were pretty and the owner was very nice to deal with. Will try to stay here again when I come home to see family.
Its an awesome old farm house! Loved talking woth Dexter and my 3 big dogs fell in love with the property and didnt want to leave! The host was awesome and very responsive to any questions we had! Will definitely rent again when back in the area!
Jill and her husband were so nice. From the snacks they brought to being flexible when we needed to add days. We especially appreciated being able to bring our dogs, and they loved Dexter. The farmhouse was cozy and comfortable. It felt like being at home. I highly recommend the farmhouse.
Very nice location out in the middle of nowhere! Our dogs loved the huge yard and liked talking with Dexter! Clean and very comfortable! Will definitely consider staying again if we come back to the area!
The house was built in 1898 and definitely a farm house which has been refurbished. It is located in middle of a pasture which is interesting and fun. House is not fancy but welcoming and cozy.
It was so nice to find this hidden gem on our journey. Everything about this place says welcome home. The peaceful surroundings was exactly what we needed after the busyness of the highway. We would highly recommend this place if you just want get off the beaten path.
We didn't get to spend as much time on the property as we would have liked but we enjoyed our time. It was a peaceful spot on a secluded property. Meeting Dexter the Donkey and the cats on the property, as well as enjoying the scenery, was the highlight.
The house is quant, maybe a little cluttered with unnecessary furniture making the spaces feel a little small, but we loved all of the plant life and nostalgia as well as the coffee area.
The upstairs was a little rough for sleeping as the ceilings are low and the steps are steep, and as a larger girl I was worried the bed frames wouldn't hold my weight, may be better suited as book nook. but that is a personal opinion. The downstairs bedroom is cute, but could use a slightly bigger bed for couples (even though a full is listed, and is accurate) and maybe some shades to block out that 6am light for those that like to sleep in. Of course, these are all personal things that I prefer when I stay places. The host was amazing at checking in with us and making sure our needs were met. This is a perfect place for a few singles just passing through or wanting to get out of the city and live the country life for a few days.
We booked this a year and four months before the eclipse, so we could get to totality. This property was beautiful, quiet, and isolated, which is just what we needed! Being able to sit outside and just listen to nature was wonderful. We lucked out with the weather - summerlike and beautiful as well. Jill messaged us with all the information we needed and gave us choices when someone would be there for some maintenance. Very happy with this place.
Such a beautiful and peaceful stay! My son, grand children, (10,13) fur babies and I enjoyed it very much. Thereâs lots of outdoor room to enjoy, and the house is clean with lots of nostalgia. Watching the donkey was a bonus! It was a very much needed peaceful stay. Would definitely stay again if out west.
