We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Gatlinburg for a long weekend with our family and had an overall great experience.
The staff were consistently pleasant and helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Our room was spacious and well-equipped, featuring a large bathroom, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, and sink—everything we needed for a comfortable family stay. One of the highlights was the large windows with beautiful views, which really added to the experience.
The lobby is a bit run down, and it’s clear that the hotel hosts large groups from the nearby conference center. This seems to contribute to some noticeable wear and tear in common areas, but it didn’t affect our comfort in the room.
Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options including bagels, cereal, eggs, pancakes, yogurt, fruit, and cinnamon rolls. We also appreciated that coffee and hot chocolate were available all day.
One important thing to note: the water park is not operated by the Holiday Inn Express. If there are any issues with it, the hotel does not take responsibility, which is good to know in advance.
The location is fantastic—just a short walk to the main strip—making it easy to explore Gatlinburg without needing to drive.
Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend this hotel to families looking for a comfortable, convenient place to stay in downtown Gatlinburg.
