Very comfortable rental a few minutes from town but tucked away for a secluded wooded feel. The pictures in the listing were very accurate and the bed was nice and comfortable. You can tell it was an older home that has been updated but that added to its character. The fireplace inside and the burning pit on the deck really elevated our experience. The kitchen had the very basics and allowed for some smaller meals to be cooked for just the two of us. There were others who rented out the adjacent apartment during our stay but it was relatively quiet aside from being able to hear some footsteps. Also, the bear activity around the cabin was incredible! We saw bears driving into town every single day of our trip. Our only negative point was an encounter we had driving into town one day. The last stretch of road to the rental is one way and up a steep hill. We came upon another driver on our way down the hill and had to come to a stop. We expected the oncoming driver to see that she was only a few feet from a driveway and assumed she would back into the driveway to let us pass. After minutes of trying to hand signal to her, I proceeded to get out of the vehicle to politely ask her to pull into the drive way or back up a few feet to allow us into the driveway. The woman in the black Toyota Tacoma proceeded to get snarky and insist that she was coming up the hill and had the “right of way” and it was our responsibility to back up almost 200ft up this narrow hill to a leaf covered, completely hidden, very small pull off that. When I pleaded that her request seemed a bit unfair and more trouble than necessary, she got very aggressive and said that she WAS NOT backing up and would sit there all day if she had to. I’m not aware if there are any unspoken rules about passing on this stretch of road but logic would have the person closest to the pull off make the effort to pull to the side, especially with the difference in distance in this case. This woman said she lived at the top of the hill and it was obvious she was not friendly with tourists. I’ve never encountered a person such as her, and hope anyone staying in this rental is able to avoid her on the hill. Other than that, we had conflicting check out information (our first confirmation said 11am and a private message from the host said 10am), we noticed the discrepancy the morning of check out after we had already planned on an 11am check out time so we ended up leaving just after 1030.
