8/10
This property is pretty good, but there were a few underwhelming elements. We appreciated the number of beds, bedrooms, and bathrooms. There is a good amount of property outside to use and explore. We were less than impressed that the hot tub was unavailable even though it was spotlighted in the listing when booked. We were informed only the night before our trip that the hot tub was not working. The second lakeside lot was also unusable. Apparently the ice storm over two months prior had taken out the hot tub, and trees on both properties. Branches were still lying on the grass behind the house and the grass had not been mowed. The dock was not installed like the listing promised. Note that the kitchen is very small and lacked much counter space. One thing that became quite comical throughout our stay was the sheer number of rules that must be followed. The rules, all very conspicuously posted, were prefaced by a statement that the rules are a result of prior renters forcing the owners to create each rule. The joke became that each action by anyone first had to be checked against the rules and, if one wasn't found, certainly we would be the cause of one being written. We felt like more of an inconvenience than guests and all for us paying them nearly 3400.Granted, it is possible that no workers have been available to move branches or fix/replace the hot tub for 2 months. Note that the meticulous cleaning doesn't include the floors (it's a rule).
