We initially booked this stay for the wonderful amenities offered, but we unfortunately were unable to enjoy it due to mismanagement leading up to our stay. When we arrived, the home was below freezing temperatures. There was no working heat or water besides 3 small space heaters. To their credit, the homeowners were responsive over messaging/phone call, although notably there is poor cell signal at this property and calls drop easily. We discussed that there was, understandably, unprecedented cold weather the week leading up to the reservation, but it was clear from our call that the owners hadn’t sent anyone to check on the space in the days leading up despite knowledge of the cold. After waiting for their housekeeper to arrive and troubleshoot, we were eventually offered a full refund. We were only able to get additional partial coverage for a 1-night hotel stay nearby (as it was 10pm at this point) and sadly ended up cutting our weekend trip short. Given the nature of the communication, as well handling of events leading up to and during our arrival, we felt the hosts were unwilling to assume responsibility for actions that could have saved us the 5 hr drive there. I am unsure if this may be due to inexperience hosting or a novice unfamiliarity with winter weather in the northeast.
