6/10 – Okay

I came to Halifax to say a final goodbye to my dad and was looking for a cozy, quiet space within walking distance of key areas. The location itself is great — close to the VIA Rail station, within walking distance to Point Pleasant Park, and about 20 minutes to the Citadel. That said, the stay itself had several issues. When I arrived in the evening after a long train journey, the unit was very cold (approximately 15C) with no central heating. The only heat source was a small space heater. After contacting the host, an additional heater and blanket were provided, which helped in the main living area, though the back portion remained a bit chilly.During my stay, a ceiling tile fell in the bathroom. Fortunately I was not underneath it at the time, but it suggests some maintenance concerns. The most disruptive issue was a loud, persistent pipe-banging noise that occurred for extended periods — including one full night and again early in the morning (around 4:15 a.m.) on my departure day. I was advised this was related to a shared space, but the duration and intensity made it very difficult to rest.Amenities were very basic. Guests may want to bring additional supplies (e.g., extra toilet paper, coffee options), as only minimal provisions are provided.Overall, the space has a certain quirky charm and a very convenient location, but it may not be suitable for those seeking a quieter and less rustic experience.
