What one isn't able to read from the picture is the small sign along the fence line. It says: Private Property do not enter . The view from the porch of the cabin is beautiful but you can't access the lake from that vantage point because the shoreline belongs to another property. THAT was a huge disappointment. And the places you could access it from (for example: fishing) were on a sloped hill in front of another renters cabin which felt like an invasion of their space.
The cottage was marginally clean. I've never seen so much dust on a HVAC air grate. It was filthy- caked dust. It hasn't been cleaned in years. I'm glad we don't have allergies or we would have had to move.
We had large gnats in the cottage the entire length of the stay. Possibly coming up through the drains? The housekeeper gave us some bug spray but it did not help. It was non-aerosole so when you sprayed the air, it fell to the floor. In trying to get the oily substance off the floor, I discovered how dirty the floors were.
The rugs in the cottage were filthy. There is a rug in the foyer with a large spot on it- 1st thing you see when you walk in. NOT a good 1st impression.
A LARGE river rat on the porch one evening was probably the straw that broke the camel's back. We enjoyed spending time out there but fighting with a rat for real estate was not on our agenda!
On a positive note, the property manager was very responsive, however the "refund" he spoke to me about due to our issues was never issued.
The property manager did tell me: the property is NOT new although the VRBO listing makes it seem that way. It is under new ownership and they going to renovate at the end of the summer (2022). Unfortunately, a reno will not solve the problem of lake access which would keep us from returning.
