Week day escape

We had a lovely stay, and the staff were exceptionally helpful and very friendly. We felt very welcome. Our only disappointment was the lack of choice in the restaurant. Queen beds aren't the best, but was OK. Breakfast was lovely. Location great.

Very clean, contemporary and modern in Hope Valley. Room was very spacious. En-suite was very good - very good shower. Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.

English country retreat 5 stars

Very nice place , clean , tidy but overall the greatest asset is the service with a smile & a genuine personable chat and the food was superb. Only point that needs addressing is if you haven’t got air conditioning then a room fan would be suitable to cool you down during our unusually hot summer , the night temperatures were uncomfortable but all other areas full marks. A great two man team combination would definitely recommend and we would stay again if in the area.

Excellent stay with some menu ambiguity

Excellent stay and welcoming service. Food was fantastic, so would highly recommend the evening meal. Bed was a tad too hard and the early bird menu had suggested weeknights, however, that was not the case. So be mindful of that.

Excellent place to stay

Fabulous place and service.. from the moment we got there, we felt very welcome. The room was warm clean and cosy. The food was excellent despite the fact that we arrived later than expected. The breakfast had as much choice , and as good as quality as any 5* hotel we have ever stayed. Well done.. We shall be back !! Jon and Katie

Outstanding food.

A very nice Inn and we felt very welcomed. Good location for walking with some lovely views. We arrived early but was made very welcome by the extremely friendly staff. We came back from a walk to a lovely hot shower and a decanter of sherry and some chocolates in our room! That was when the outstanding experience began. We went for dinner and I can truthfully say that we have never tasted such amazing food in ANY establishment that we have been to. James (the owner and chef) produced us exquisite food which was presented beautifully. Matthew, the sommelier, added to the fine dinning experience with his knowledge and suggestions of wine for each coarse. Breakfast was also amazing with waiter service for each coarse. The smoked haddock and potched eggs were awsome as was the full English. All in all, I would have no hesitation recommending the Samuel Fox Inn as a wonderful gormet experience. I will certainly return. Thank you to all staff for making our visit so enjoyable.

Very good experience

A nice hotel in the Peak District, close to Mam Tor, Winnats Pass and Hope Valley. I came here for photography, using the hotel as a convenient base for several interesting locations, including the above and Derwent and Curbar Edge. The staff is kind and the room was comfortable and well-equipped. Very good restaurant and breakfast, too.
