NEVER book with EXPEDIA for accommodation in Africa. You do so at your own risk. I booked and PAID online with my debit card for a reservation with Expedia but got a WhatsApp message from the property manager Habibu Kacho stating that I’ll need to get a refund from Expedia because he doesn’t work with them anymore since his account has been blocked for about a year now. He also insisted I’ll need to pay onsite at the property because he didn’t receive any money from Expedia though he got an email which said I had already paid.
I reached out to Expedia and after a lot of back and forth they referred me back to the property manager. Expedia claimed they were unable to cancel my online reservation and could not say if I’ll need to pay onsite or not. I do not understand. How is it that Expedia couldn’t get me a refund? Yet still I couldn’t just go and check in ? And had to pay again onsite? Makes no bloody sense!
I’m very disappointed with this poor service from Expedia. As at now I’m still waiting for my refund for my online payment and actually suspect it could be a SCAM. do not book a room with Expedia for any Africa trip. You can narrow down your search with Expedia, then google to find the phone number for property. Make a reservation directly and pay onsite.
Beds at Kacho guest house are made of concrete/cement..directly built into the ground. Kacho was helpful in arranging a bus pick up from the airport to the property (at a fee )
