Issues I immediately reported: Freezer covered in frost, drawers frozen shut; Terrible smell in refrigerator; Ovens not clean, smelled - and created smoke an acrid smell when used; Dishwasher door hinge broken and door came flying down dangerously hit my son in leg; Broken shower head; one towel drying rack not working; no door lock instructions; poor Washer instructions; Photos show decorative pillows in Living and Bedrooms, coffee table and rug which do not exist. Key pickup/return not convenient. Security Deposit required - not true of all listings. In VRBO messages, host would reply promptly but I believe it was AI responding. Always sorry about the inconvenience but offering no solutions. Message explained to me how to defrost the freezer; when I said this is not my responsibility nor would I take liability for such action. After a few days, I finally asked host to send a housekeeper to defrost the freezer, deal with fridge smell, clean the ovens, and check the dishwasher (which they said was ok to use, though host had said "just hand wash the dishes") - why did I need to propose the sending cleaner? "We are sorry for issues, we'll get back to you" was worthless. I asked the host to discount in light of the fact that I could not use major kitchen appliances, they kept saying "we will discuss with management" and ultimately, declined but offered 10% discount on future stays if I booked DIRECTLY WITH THEM not VRBO- inappropriate and not real rescompense for serious issues
