I felt very comfortable staying there. Made good friends during my stay. They had the rooftop bar and pool. Their live Jazz nights were excellent, too. Little Tokyo and the Art district in just in walking distance. Our room was cleaned daily, and the reception was always supportive and kind. 10/10

Freehand liegt wunderbar zentral in Downtown LA und ich habe mich sehr wohlgefühlt im Hostel. Der angrenzende Aufenthaltsraum ist super angenehm. Die Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption sind super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Gerne wieder.

I stayed in a shared room, which was on the smaller side but we'll designed. The only criticism I have is that the electrical outlets in my bunned did not work. Moreover the hotel does not provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. I primarily chose the Freehand because of its rooftop pool which was a blessing during the recent heatwave. The use of loungechairs is restricted to 2h, which I consider reasonable. Be aware that the pool is usually very crowded, so actually swimming can be a challenge..

I enjoyed my stay at the Freehand and will definitely choose them again for my next LA trip. There were some smudges of someone's makeup on the wall near the mirror and the desk table had some damage on it but otherwise the room was clean. The room I chose faced a street with a bar and there was some noise from people standing out front late at night but otherwise it was a peaceful stay. The rooftop bar is wonderful and open til midnight which made it a great option for a night cap without having to leave the hotel and the lobby lounge was a great option for getting work done during the day. A little busy but I found a spot and the cafe integral staff was very kind and accommodating.

Really nice staff, very accommodating. The rooftop was also a very welcoming environment. Although the surrounding area isn't the best, the hotel and the bar at the top was very friendly and welcoming. The valet service is a bit on the expensive side, but definitely well worth it considering the area.

Freehand is wonderful! This was our third time staying at Freehand LA. It is in such a great location—very walkable and close to everything! You are downtown yet don’t feel “smothered” in the super busy areas. Our favorite part is the hotel rooftop, where there is a restaurant, great bar and very relaxing pool area (this is called the Broken Shaker). We arrived early and even though our room wasn’t ready, we could safely leave our bags and still use the amenities such as the gym and rooftop. The hotel is in an older building but the renovations and decor give it a nice clean, modern feeling where its charm can be appreciated from both aspects. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Very clean and safe. There are supermarkets, nice bakeries, and many bus stops nearby. We had no problems. I will definitely choose this hotel again when I'm cheering for the Dodgers.

If you don't expect a lot, you'll be extremely pleased with the Freehand. Some odd things weren't there — like only two tiny plastic cups in the room. No coffee maker. The street noise was noticeable, but not overwhelming. The bed was comfortable the room was clean.

La propiedad esta bien, Céntrica, pero los elevadores son muy antiguos, y mi habitación era extremadamente pequeña, la iluminación es terrible aun subiendo a lo maximo. El roofgarden con alberca es lindo pero olvide mis lentes de sol y me dijeron que no estaban ahi, asi qué no olvides "nada" Pedi un cambio de habitación y me dijeron que si, pero no hubo tal cambio, la habitación tiene una pequeña ventana detras de la litera con vista a un estacionamiento. No te estaciones en el valet parking del hotel, mejir busca parking cerca, solo tendras que caminar 1 o 2 cuadras a 20 o 25 dlls podras entrar y salir cuantas veces sea necesario.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you did not have a great experience. We do have "historic elevators" in keeping with the historic nature of the building. Theye have been completely renovated and are up to code. We have rooms of varying sizes. All depends upon what you book. Sincere apologies you lost your glasses. I adore staying at this hotel. I've been coming since 2019, and I am still in love with the rooftop pool and the interior design. Compared to every other hostel experience I'd had in LA, this has been leaps and bounds better. I'd like to note that the beds are pretty creaky and getting down from the top bunk woke everyone in the room up when someone climbed down, but beyond that, I really felt very at home in the space.

I had bed bugs in my bed which was horrible. I told it to one of thé managers at first but he just told me he would change the sheets. Nothîng changed So i signalés it to anorher manager who proposed me to change the room before my last night. I stayer there 14 days. I asked for a scalpé the last day to Wright my suitcase but they did not have any. My deposit has not been refund after one week now.

Sorry, Slim but there were definitely no bedbugs in your room. So this statement is false. We have the 3rd party inspector report and are more than happy to send this to you. We release all deposits the day after check-out. It generally takes 3 to 5 business days to see this back in your account. Depends on your bank. Mat be longer if CC issued on foreign bank.
