This home was the last house nestled in the woods down a dirt drive just off route 100. Drove a BMW sedan during dry fall weather and it was fine on the dirt drive. Snowy, icy weather would have definitely required 4wd. We rented this particular house because of its location on the lake and the fact that the owner provided a canoe and kayaks (which we used everyday.) The kitchen and living areas with the stone fireplace (plenty of wood provided) were great. We had a great 3 days here. If you need provisions, we'd suggest driving into Woodstock. Nice cafe for lunch (Cafe Vert) and the Woodstock Farmer's Market is a must.
To be honest, we had a few surprises. The house seems to be in the process of renovation so there were areas that needed to be completed. Some bare wires, some unpainted surfaces, and nonexistent smoke alarms or fire extinguisher in the kitchen/fireplace area seem to us a problem for a rental. There was no renter's "book" to refer to as we've had in some other rental homes, but it wasn't really a problem because Vacasa provided all the info about the rental online or through the App. The frying pans were "very used" and we would have liked some dish towels in the kitchen but maybe that's nitpicking! The water has a strong taste and smell so we'd suggest bringing bottled water to drink. Maybe the owner would consider a filter of some sort.
Family photos around the home show a great family (looks like 4 boys? - same as my husband's family.) All told, we have good memories of Vermont and our stay.
