Hotel Carmen

We booked the hotel based on comments made on Trip Advisor and similar sites. The hotel itself is generally well located in La Cala with easy access to the beach, restaurants and other amenities. The downside as we found out was the noise from the coastal motorway which literally runs less than 100m from the hotel and unfortunately we had a room (204) directly facing the road. It really is quite an awful and monotonous noise at all hours of the day. Being a light sleeper our first nights sleep was awful. On arrival and on our next evening we asked if we could move room but were informed that this was not possible as the hotel was full. We were also checked into a disabled room which had a sliding bathroom door which had a light come on by a sensor so when you headed towards the bathroom during the night the whole room lit up. We saw other rooms which had normal closing doors which were on the side of the room. I can only assume that although we booked this room several weeks before our trip though Hotels.com that better rooms were given to those who booked direct with the hotel or were Spanish? There is a fridge in the room but no kettle which is never good for us Brits as we love tea or coffee in the morning. The hotel is decent but given our room we would not choose to stay in this hotel again. Sorry.

Nice little place in a fantastic spot. Lots of nice places (bars and restaurants). La Cala de Mijas is a nice place
