This was the perfect place to explore the national park without a car. We took the passenger ferry to the island and it was less than a 2 minute walk to the apartment. There is a good restaurant just two doors down and a small market very close. The trail to the lakes is just behind the house and you can also walk or bike (rent at the ferry terminal) to the WWII tunnel, which was cool. The apartment is close to others but feels private. It’s tiny but there is a nice terrace dining area that adds to the living space and each bedroom has a private bath. A kind family runs the place and left us delicious cake when we checked in, and brought produce from the garden during our stay. Their goats and chickens are fun to hear and there were some cute turtles in the garden. Consider bringing food from the mainland, since restaurants on the island are expensive and the only tiny market closes at 3 pm. You can get by with what is available though, and the kitchen is equipped to cook a full meal.
