« When we arrived, the house REEKED of cigarette smoke. We had to air the house out the entire first day and we could still smell it on the towels and faintly in the air. Clearly, the people before us did not follow the rules. We notified the host right away - he was very responsive. He had a cleaning lady come over; not much she could do, but she did bring a lighter so we could light some of the candles at least. Other than the smoke smell, the house was fine and as advertised. « The Cottage is easily one of the best places I've ever rented! All of the personal touches and extras provided (firewood, eggs from the chicken coop, fishing poles for the pond, and the telescope) make this location a must-stay. My kids absolutely LOVED hanging out with the chickens! I made plenty of cherished memories by teaching my children how to fish, start a fire, and use the telescope to stargaze. Next time we will 100% be renting the golf cart to explore more of the orchard and take...

« Nice place. We cooked meals inside on the stove but also over a fire at the fire pit. There is a small creek behind the cabin that runs when it rains out. That was pretty cool. No nearby light pollution so the sky is really dark at night and you can see a lot of stars. Overall a great experience. Two wineries close by. It's on the wine trail. Close to everything in Southern Illinois. We went to all the state parks. »
