„Our host, Sharon was awesome to work with. Her house was so cozy and quiet and close enough to walk to town which was nice. Our bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils. When we weren’t off exploring, Sharon’s home offered us relaxing down time to read or take a nap. „Beach cottage (also called Orowaru cottage) is a gem. We had a great week there. I can particularly recommend sitting on the front verandah watching the tide roll in and out. Deeply peaceful. And well appointed for your every need. We used the cottage as a base to explore the Hokianga and Whangape Harbours. So many marae, so many early churches, friendly locals wherever we went. I came home with a lovely handmade rug from the Kohukohu Village Arts. The little Kohukohu library is another gem.“

We just stayed the one night but it was a very restful and relaxing stay, very private and serene garden areas to enjoy, and all just a short walk to the Kohukohu CBD : ) Very handy to the pub and shop and just across the street from the bowls club where the locals will happily welcome you for a sneaky beverage, there’s some folks there enjoying a bowl and a beer most nights during the summer nights.“
