1. Baja Motel

Oakland

« I never did find an ice machine; not sure if there's one there. This operation has apparently experienced a change in ownership, and the new owners, Raul and Josie, are trying hard. While we were there, there was a leak from the bathtub that got to the unit below us, and we had to temporarily locate to the unit next door, then back after they finished repairs by next day noon. Expedia really should include phone numbers to the operators when booking because it will better facilitate emergency...

« When we arrived to the Garrett Inn, we were able to check in, and were given a key to the room, and told where to park (each room's number was plainly painted on the space for each room, however, due to the configuration of the parking lot vs the way the room's were situated, the parking spaces were off-set from the individual rooms, so when parked for the room assigned, the space was two spaces offset. « We stayed over for a weekend and the property is newer and overall good. Beds are clean, bathroom is in the smaller side and bathroom door hits the toilet . « We left after the 1st night. Internet did not work. The front desk told us it would work in the hall! We could have dealt with that. But when we awoke, everything was damp. It was so damp that neither me nor my daughter felt well. Stuffy nose and headache. The last straw was the small flying insects that were there. They were in the bathroom and near the kitchen. I did not say anything to the front desk. It would have been pointless. I am in the process of trying to get a refund. »

« For those that like indoor entertainment and relaxation, this place is for you. There is air hockey, a video game machine, hot tub and tv in every room. The hot tub and air hockey is in an enclosed room off the living room so no worry about chlorine smells in the home. The video game Pac-Man is in the loft. You can relax by the fireplace place in the super comfy couches or sit on the porch swing and watch the deer or ground hogs walking by in the side yard. »
