Powderhorn House ist nicht zu empfehlen
Hotelanlage an sich ist ganz schön, aber wir hatten ein Haus am Rande der Anlage gebucht. Auf den Fotos sah es wie ein Holzblockhaus aus. In Wirklichkeit war es eine abgewöhnte, alte Hütte. Die Küche war gut ausgestattet und wir hatten einen Kamin. Die Böden knarzten und es hingen zum Teil Spinnweben rum. Wir waren zweimal im dazugehörigen Restaurant essen, Service und Qualität waren sehr gut. Vielleicht ist es in einem anderen Zimmer besser, aber das Haus ist nicht zu empfehlen.

Das Hotel war sehr schön und ruhig gelegen, das Einchecken klappte schnell und unkompliziert, das Zimmer war bereits früh verfügbar und das Hotelpersonal sehr freundlich.

gemütlich, komfortabel, leider sehr hellhörig
Hotel war eine gute Basis, um den Tongariro NP zu erkunden. Zum Ort war es nicht weit und der bot attraktive kulinarische Möglichkeiten. Das Hotel ist wie eine große Blockhütte gebaut, mit allem Komfort. Die Zimmer sind groß und gemütlich. Einziger Nachteil: sehr hellhörig!

Really nice wooden building, Swiss touch
We stayed in the Chateau for one night. It is a very warm and cozy stay. You feel like in a big Cottage in the mountains. Rooms are very clean (we also had a balcony) and comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. It's very Close to the village and to the Train Station. It must be also great to stay during winter time. We would definitely also stay longer again in the Chateau. Really to recommend.

In diesem Hotel hatten wir ein riesiges Zimmer mit allem Komfort. Auch das Bett und die Sauberkeit war tadellos. Leider hatten sie bei unserem Aufenthalt Probleme mit dem WIFI in den Zimmern, dafür war es bei der Reception gratis. Dieses für Wintertourismus ausgerichtete Hotel ist zu empfehlen, aber deutliche Abstriche gibt es bei dem eher mittelmässigen und überteuerten Frühstück.

Very charming hotel! Wish we had more time to stay. The property feels very much like a ski lodge and I'm sure is gorgeous in the winter. Just as nice and more quiet in the summer! We ate at the more casual restaurant - great food and enjoyed having drinks on the rooftop patio. We didn't have a chance to swim in the heated pool but it looked lovely. We loved learning that some of the Lord of the Rings cast stayed here when they were filming! 10/10 recommend

Amazing hotel.
Amazing hotel. Very close to ski hills and volcano. Food and beer were great. Very comfy rooms. easy parking. The only thing is ask for a room far from the automatic door as the knock on the wall when they open and it might disturb you at night.

Looks a little tired around the edges. Staff lovely, but definitely some where new to hospitality. Restaurant menu in the evening wasn’t bad but the food was disappointing especially the lamb rump. Really hope you continue to improve as it’s a great site!

Accommodation was great. Restaurant as part of the accommodation was disappointing. You couldn’t book a table for a meal, and therefore couldn’t get a table for a meal without a long wait. Menu was limited as well.

Absolutely love this place! This is our favourite accommodation in Ohakune. The rooms are spacious, the pool is lovely after a day on the slopes, the restaurant so easy! The ski and board shop for repairs , tuning etc on the premises so handy too. Only negative is - in this time of compulsory mask wearing, the receptionist didn’t wear one at all in the 3 days we were there . She was in close contact with every guest that arrived on her shifts and the distancing at times was less than 1/2 a metre, It made me feel uneasy even though everyone else is sanitising and mask wearing I would’ve thought the front of house should set an example.

Hello Clare, I am glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate your worries. Our receptionist you saw without a mask has a medical exemption and does have a sign sitting on the bench stating so but with so many Covid signs around at the moment it is easy to miss.
