Hotel Nikko Alivila â 5 Stars
Hotel Nikko Alivila is a fantastic resort in a prime location, situated mid-island in Okinawa. It offers the perfect balanceâeasy access to the quieter, scenic northern areas, yet still close enough to Naha for cultural sites like the Okinawa Peace Memorial Museum and some downtown excitement.
The hotel itself is packed with amenities and activities. Thereâs a stunning white sand beach with crystal-clear water, paddleboarding, Sea-Doo rentals, and even tubing behind boats. The pool is spotless, and the tiki bar serves great cocktails in a laid-back setting.
We stayed on the top floor of the North Wing, and the sunset views over the chapel were absolutely breathtakingâdonât miss it if you can book this room!
Dining is excellent. We tried the Ryukyu/Japanese restaurant on-site, and the food was both authentic and delicious. Just next door, thereâs a shopping center with a cozy coffee bar (surprisingly playing country western music!) and some great casual eats like burgers, burritos, and sandwiches.
The staff were phenomenalâgenuinely attentive, friendly, and abundant. You feel very well taken care of from the moment you arrive.
One tip: rent a car. Thereâs no public transit nearby, and taxis or Ubers would add up quickly. I was a bit nervous about driving on the left side, but it was easy to get used toâand totally worth it for the flexibility.
In summary, this hotel exceeded expectations.
