We all thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. It was clean it had tons of amenities. The playroom was a huge hit with the young ones and my daughter and I love sitting in the Adirondack chairs watching the water in the sunset. My son-in-law enjoyed keeping us warm with the stove. He was our wood hauler. We would definitely rent this property again.

We loved Half Shell Haven! It’s a spectacular spot with all the amenities you could possibly need. We hosted 13 family members for Thanksgiving. The perfect home to entertain! The game room/shed was an added bonus. And the views from the house, the decks and the dock were all beautiful.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Half Shell Haven! The home exceeded our expectations, it’s even more beautiful than the photos. We were in town for a friend’s wedding, and our host, Jennifer, went above and beyond by leaving us a thoughtful card and gift. The house is cozy, well-equipped with everything you might need, and perfectly captures the charm of Virginia coastal living.The rooms and beds were so comfortable!! The kitchen is well stocked for any meals you may desire to create. And so many fun games as well! The water access was fantastic, even with the extra rainfall from an incoming storm. We enjoyed our time so much that we’re already planning to return with family and friends to experience more of the area and all the fun this home has to offer. Highly recommend!! Especially if you are traveling with a pet, our senior lab enjoyed her stay immensely as well.

Amazing vacation place

Very nice place..the house is beautifully decorated and very clean. This place has everything you need and more. We enjoyed catching crabs of the dock and cooking them. The landscaping and grounds are nicley done. We all had a great time. The host did an exceptional job at making us feel welcomed

Maximum tranquility

It's rare that I've gone to a rental home and thought to myself "I'd change nothing," but here we are. The decor was tastefully curated and arranged, with careful attention to space, color, and detail. There is excellent access to the water and a vast array of aquatic activities to take part in along with the equipment, not to mention the privacy to do so in any manner one sees fit. Perfect Stay

We have stayed at a ton of rentals and this was truly the best. The hosts have thought of everything; from kayaks, to comfortable places to hang out, this house has it all. Lasting Memories & Best Stay to Date (ran out of characters in review)

My family and I have stayed at countless properties over the years through VRBO. As a family of five (5), including two teens, and an 8-year-old, one can imagine the difficulties associated with finding a vacation rental that had something that tickled the fancy of each. We’ve been very happy with the properties and the accuracy of the listings. There has never been an occasion where any of us felt deceived or that the property failed to meet expectations. With that said, our recent stay at this property blew all previous experiences out of the water. Drafting this review proved extremely difficult for words fail to fully capture the overall superior quality of the property, the surprising number of amenities provided, the “model home” level cleanliness, and most of all, the amount of effort and attention the owner expended toward ensuring every aspect of our vacation was flawless. In all honesty, exclusive of the owner’s dedication to our overwhelming satisfaction, the stay had solidly met all our expectations and worthy of more than a five-star review. I cannot put enough emphasis on how every aspect of this stay was at a level of quality that went above and beyond our wildest dreams. The resulting precious family moments will absolutely be brought up in many conversations for years to come and be one of our fondest memories for a lifetime. Summer Vacation

Absolutely Beautiful! The is kitchen fully equipped, beds and pillows so comfortable and the sheet cool. We enjoyed the boat dock and the game room. The round swinging chairs were an additional surprise and this area with the vine background was the perfect area for selfies if you do social media. The grounds were wonderful for a peaceful walk to get your steps in and my husband ran for a few miles down the local road to get the early morning run. Haven beach was beautiful! The work and new sand was greatly appreciated. Thank you Mathew’s County for the upgrade and improvements. We hope to return next year.

The house is beautiful and is furnished beautifully. It was immaculate when I arrived. You have any and everything you could want to cook, in the bathroom, extra covers, etc. It has a game shed, floats, kayaks, fishing poles, crab pots, a propane grill, and an inflatable hot tub, just to list some of the amenities. It is very private with beautiful landscaping and a beautiful dock. The property is only a few minutes away from Aaron Beach, Bethel Beach, Haven Beach and the town of Matthews. Jennifer, the owner is outstanding. She responds right away to any correspondence and makes sure you have everything you need and want. I felt so comfortable there and I love this property. I had an awesome time and I am looking forward to coming back!

More Than Expected!

Absolutely Fantastic! Our stay at Half Shell Haven was so much more than expected. Everything we needed was provided. Comfortable beds/pillows! Peaceful and quiet! Perfect Getaway

We had an awesome weekend at the Half Shell Haven. It is a beautiful property, inside and out. I really can’t say enough good things. Our kids ranging in ages from 5 to 10 years old had an amazing time - as did the adults. The kids loved the game room and fishing and crabbing from the dock. This was the perfect house to enjoy the long weekend with family and friends. Thank you Jennifer for being such a kind and wonderful host! I can’t wait to make the Old Bay chips and dip again - what a nice touch 👌

A perfect family getaway

This property surpassed our expectations. We are a family of 4 with elementary aged children who absolutely loved vacationing here as much as their parents. The game/bar room cannot be beat. Everyone becomes a kid. Jennifer has thought of everything to make your stay wonderful. The house decor is wonderful as though at a boutique hotel just for you. The grounds gave our dog incredible roaming space and the dock was an incredible oasis for all of us. We got to crab with our kids - a memory for a lifetime! Kayaking was easy and so much fun even with your kids. Matthews and Gloucester were great to visit but honestly all you need is a good grocery shop and to hang out at the house. Enjoyed Everything

Our stay was excellent. We enjoyed the amenities and the various options to choose from (tea, types of water, etc.). Being close to the water we expected the house and the description of it to be exactly as advertised and it was. The views are amazing. Even short walks around the property are treats. The house was clean. All the bedding fits our family’s comfort needs. A private getaway is indeed this house. We will look forward to stopping through again. Thank you for everything!
