Cooking supplies are fairly limited, no large pots or pans, which is weird for a house designed to have a lot of people in it. Grill was crazy expensive to "rent", so we limited our cooking to indoors. Master toilet still had urine stains under the seat. The host was very communicative. However, immediately after booking, I messaged the host and let them know we were going to be visiting for a soccer tournament and based on the schedule we may not actually need the 5th night. I asked if it would be alright to modify the reservation once the schedule was finalized. They replied back it would be no problem and to just let them know about the change. Schedule was finalized, I messaged the host and let them know we were not going to need the 5th night with checkout on the 6th day, we would be leaving before checkout time on the 5th day, instead. They messaged back that there was nothing they could do and disregarded our original conversation resulting in us paying for an extra unused night.I understand their side of the business in renting out their property. We originally made the reservation, removing that night from possibly being reserved by another family, but it was a Monday night, not a busier part of the week, during a slow month for the area. If they weren't going to be able to honor the cancellation, they should have just been upfront about it instead of saying they would. I would have changed our reservation at the beginning, had they been upfront about it.
