A two-bedroom on the upper floor of a four-unit house, up a flight of stairs.

Bedrooms: two, each with a queen bed and a memory foam topper, and each with its own mini-split and remote.

Living room: a sofa bed for two more guests, a TV with cable, and a mini-split of its own.

Kitchen: stainless appliances including a dishwasher, stocked with what you need to cook, plus coffee and tea.

Bathroom: one, roomy, with a shower-tub combo. Washer and dryer in the unit, 400 Mbps Wi-Fi, and a crib on request.

Keypad smart lock on the apartment door. Your personal code comes in the arrival message and works from check-in time. The apartment is up one flight of stairs, and bags can be dropped from noon. Three other units share the building, including one across the hall.

Check-in is self-guided, so you can arrive on your own schedule. I'm a message away whenever you need anything during your stay.

Eliot sits between two of Portland's best food streets without the price tag of either. Williams Avenue is seven minutes on foot: Eem's Thai barbecue, Life of Pie's wood-fired pizza, The Box Social for a nightcap, Change for coffee the next morning. The MLK Street Food pod, four minutes away, covers lunch. Irving Park's courts and playground are a 10-minute walk, Mississippi Avenue 17. For event nights, the Moda Center and Convention Center are an 8-minute drive or a 36-minute walk down MLK.

Parking is free on the street with no restrictions, and reviewers keep saying it's easy.

The 6 bus on MLK, two blocks away, goes downtown and to the Moda Center. The 4 on Williams and Vancouver is a 7-minute walk. By car: Moda Center 8 minutes, downtown 16, PDX airport 18. The MAX Yellow Line is a long walk, so use the bus.

A four-unit building means neighbors: there's an apartment across the hall and one below, so expect the occasional door or footsteps. Bedroom curtains let some light in, so light sleepers might pack a mask. Towels are provided, washcloths are not.
