This is our second time staying on the "compound". There are three rental properties, all fantastic and gated in the same location. All three have their own gated beach access and are very private. We previously stayed at Casa Macumba which was fantastic. Casa Macuba was full this time to we spoke with the owner (Blair, who is fantastic) and he recommended we stay at Casa Canaan which was just recently built. Blair owns and runs all three properties and does not spare any expense.
The place has ample boogie boards, sea kayaks, life vests, beach chairs, etc. We were a little worried it couldn't replicate Casa Macaumba but we liked it even better. The bedrooms were newer and more spacious, the interior was nicer, bathrooms were amazing and the living areas were nicer as well. The views are awesome because the pool deck and lounge area is 20-30' off the ground. The only thing it doesn't have that Macumba has is the outdoor lawn space but we thought it was more than made up for with its other amenities. You can easily sleep 8 couples or like us, 4 couples and 9 kids. It was our kids favorite place we've ever stayed in Mexico. The beach is phenomenal, a private boat will come pick you up at the beach (Chabba is the boat captain and is a local to Mislamoya and knows every private beach, bar/restaurant, place to cliff jump, etc. up the coast line) it is a must do for one day. The Staff was just as good as it was at Macumba. Jose was one of the best chef's (if not the best) we've ever had in Mexico and will cook whatever you want. Jose has a lot of favorites he'll recommend, best to follow his lead but our favorite was his Mahi Mahi. The rest of the staff was phenomenal too (cleaning, laundry, setting up and cleaning up beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers with drinks, etc.). You don't have to lift a finger once you show up and they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. We will definitely be coming back and will ask for Casa Canaan.
