We’ve been to Tany Y Bryn before for a weekend break some years ago and loved it. This time we stayed for a week and it was great to see this beautiful cottage again. Some notable upgrades since we last visited - a steam room and hot tub (neither of which we got around to sampling due to weather, unfortunately) - hopefully next time! The cottage looked so pretty on arrival, with twinkling Christmas lights beckoning us up the long track to the cottage. The location is spectacular. If the owner ever wishes to sell, let me know! Indoors the boot room is handy for damp coats and boots which are dry by the morning, the kitchen is a good size and well appointed with everything you need (although perhaps some cooking tongs would be handy), and the sitting room is cosy with its log burning stove and large comfortable sofas. A small basket of logs was provided on arrival, and you can buy more from the nearby petrol station. Very comfortable bed - slept like a log! The enclosed garden was perfect for the dogs, and at night the Milky Way was clearly visible directly overhead - the night sky here is spectacular. Location is great for exploring the local area, with glorious beaches and mountains as near or far as you care to go. The beautiful Abererch Sands is closest - a few minutes drive, with a mix of cobbles and sand, or further towards Porthmadog is Black Rock Sands (Morfa Bychan) the length of which you can drive on the stunning sandy beach itself. There’s so much to explore, and to be able to return to wonderful Tan Y Bryn at the end of the day and enjoy mulled wine by the fire is just the icing on the cake. We had local family visit us for coffee and they loved the place too. Can’t wait to come back again next year!
