At check-in, we were asked to choose a specific breakfast time for the next morning, which felt unnecessarily stressful. It’s a holiday. why not allow guests to arrive anytime within a reasonable breakfast window?
We were then handed a single key and told that it opens all doors: the front door, our room door. When we returned late at night, there were no staff around. We let ourselves in and suddenly understood that anyone else with the same key setup could also access our room. We didn’t feel safe and hardly slept.
Our room had a large spider web between the wardrobe and coffee stand, clearly not cleaned properly.
The next morning, although it was 25°C and the outdoor seating was one of the reasons we booked this hotel, we were told we couldn’t sit outside for breakfast. Inside, there was a shared bowl of yogurt sitting out in the open, not individually packed and off-putting in terms of hygiene.
We ordered the food, which took 20 minutes to arrive. The table hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests, crumbs were still all over it, it was also sticky, yet our plates were placed directly on top. The plates smelled so bad, clearly not properly washed. We forced ourselves to try one bite, only to find the food was also terrible. At that point, we gave up and left the dining area. There were no staff around to speak to. During checkout we explained that breakfast was disappointing, but we were met with a rude response: “You could’ve ordered something else.” No apologies
