4/10
Brookmere caught my eye on Expedia for a quick trip home because it looked so cute and called itself a “resort.” Overall, it was a letdown. The space is stylish, but clearly built for aesthetics over function.
The check-in area is tucked off to the side with no automatic door or button, so getting luggage in was awkward. Inside, there’s no clear path to the front desk due to a large sitting area that fills the space. I had to drag my suitcase across rug and tile while several staff members stood by. I also saw an older woman struggling with a bell cart and the same issue of no path through the lobby. The employees didn’t seem rude, just new or unsure of how to help. I couldn’t get over how awkward that design was for checking in.
In the room, the design felt scattered and impractical. The bathroom light switch is under the towel hooks making it inconvenient to use the switch when towels are drying. There was a bright, iPad-like temperature control lights up the room all night with no dimming option. It shined extremely bright right in front of the bed, the staff said there is no option to dim it. There were also brown beetles, which I trapped under coffee cups.
The pool is the size of a few plunge pools, with four lounge chairs. A staff member did come by to check on us and was very kind.
The $20 “resort” fee covered two Saratoga waters and some sparse amenities. It all felt overpriced. Cute hotel, but not worth the cost. Not sure I’d stay again.
