The area of Arenal, where the Real de la Carretería is located, has become one of the go-to places in the city if you wish to enjoy all the leisure opportunities and the cuisine that Seville has to offer. In the daytime, it is the perfect location for the best cultural plans: a visit to the Reales Atarazanas (the old shipyards), the Hospital de la Caridad, the old charitable hospital and chapel which still provides care for the aged and the infirm, or the Maestranza Theatre, to mention but a few. The myriad bars, taverns and restaurants come to life at midday, from the central market to the Avenida de la Constitución. For a drink after work, the sophisticated atmosphere next to the Plaza del Arenal is the place of choice, followed by dinner in one of the many small restaurants in the area, some of them the ideal location for trying what’s new in Sevillian tapas.
