We had a wonderful stay at Hibiscus House. The home was very clean, well maintained, and offered great amenities that made our time there comfortable and enjoyable. The location was excellent, convenient and perfectly situated for what we needed. The space was more than sufficient for our group, especially since we did not have as many family members as originally planned. The pool and hot tub were an added bonus and really enhanced our stay. We would absolutely recommend Hibiscus House and would gladly stay here again.

Property was not well maintained. Was surprising since the home is for sale and I can’t imagine anyone seeing all the problems and being interested. - All of the shower heads were barely functional. I assume they are clogged with water deposits causing inconsistent operation. - The temperature control handles in several showers would not stay in place. This required you to hold them with one hand while washing with your free hand. - The HVAC system would not keep the temperature inside above 62 on a cold night. The hosts response was to look for space heaters in several closets. Those of course had little impact unless sitting right in front of you. And there were only 2 heaters we could find, so not enough heaters to cover even the 4 bedrooms. - the instructions for the spa didn’t appear to be clear so host had to send someone to the house to turn on the spa and heater. - not a huge issue but there were no TV’s in the bedrooms. But was unusual compared to most VRBO properties I’ve used in past. - while not warm enough for swimming in February the backyard and pool area looked nice. So if visiting in the summer and spending most of the time outside these issues might be less important. If visiting this area again we would definitely not return to this property

Unfortunately, this home was not at all what the pictures represented. Upon arrival, we inspected the exterior and immediately noticed trash around the property, a non-functioning pool, broken outdoor furniture, and a deck that appeared unsafe and in need of serious repair.Inside the home, the condition was equally disappointing. The linens were stained, and the upholstered furniture was filthy and visibly stained. The kitchen was lacking many basic and necessary items needed to cook meals for our family, which made the space impractical for our stay.As we continued inspecting the home and tried to make it work, we then noticed black mold around the air return vent and on the windows along the stairway. At that point, it was clear there were multiple safety and health concerns. Overall, there were many unsafe conditions, and the home is in need of significant repairs, proper maintenance, and a deep, thorough cleaning.Because the property did not match the listing photos and presented serious concerns, we canceled our reservation and found another place to stay. We were extremely disappointed and would not recommend this property in its current condition.

The house was beautiful. Everyone enjoyed the house. It was 10 of us in total and we all had enough room not to feel on top of each other. The host was available right away. I only called to confirm I was turning on the pool heater correct.

Perfect location, the house was very spacious. Perfect outdoor space. The house is older but that did not affect our enjoyment of the house. It was nice to be able to use the kayaks, the kids enjoyed fishing on the dock. The kitchen lacks some of the needed dishes but we got by just fine. Found a few bugs but it is a house in Florida, so it is be expected!

In desperate need of maintenance

My family stayed here over the memorial day holiday. The house is nice and was clean but seems like a lot of things were neglected. 2 of the 4 showers did not work properly. One had either scorching hot or ice cold water obviously the valve was broken. The other only worked sporadically. The pool was dirty, the water was so cloudy I couldn't see the bottom which was a big disappointment because the kids were really looking forward to swimming and one of the main reasons we chose this rental. We decided to grill out on the gas grill in the back yard, to start with there were no grill utensils and while preheating the grill it caught fire due to a missing heat deflector inside of the grill and the grease build up from not being cleaned fortunately I was able to get the gas shut off but it continued to burn the grease for another 10 or so minutes we were all scurrying around the house looking for a fire extinguisher with no luck.The handrail on the upper balcony is the biggest and most dangerous problem we had. The handrail is there but all of the posts were rotted off at the bottom, some still hanging on by a thread. When you put weight against the rail it wobbles back and forth thankfully there is a screened enclosure on the outside of the rail, enough to keep the rail from falling over but definitely not enough to hold the weight of a person leaning against it.I contacted the homeowner with these issues and did not get much help. Would not recommend this one

Family Vacation

The house was wonderful. I had all my adult children there and the home offered enough space that we weren’t on top of one another. We had a great time and enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Definitely would consider returning.

Perfect Getaway For Our Large Family!

Our ((extra)) large family consisting of 5 adults, 5 teenagers, and 4 kids had a great stay! :) plenty of space for everyone and also nice large common areas. Heated pool and hot tub were a hit! As well as the four kayaks available at the property.

Great family getaway

Great spot for our entire extended family to stay. Lots of room and fun for ages 10-55. Close to activities like kayaking Weeki Wachee where we say manatee. Kids and adults enjoyed the pool and hot tub.

Amazing House

We were in town to celebrate a 100th birthday. This house is so big and allowed all us adults to spread out - plenty of sleeping options. Multiple decks and areas to work if you need to and great place to congregate if you are visiting with extended family. Even an open loft area to practice yoga with provided HDMI cable to connect laptop to big screen!! The owners were so gracious providing us with extra blankets and heaters when the temperature unexpectedly dropped a couple of the days. What is great is how quickly it then warms up. Just a wonderful house in a lovely quiet neighborhood and great hosts.

Overall we enjoyed the stay at Hibiscus House. The pool area was beautiful, however access to the pool is tricky..a metal spiral staircase. The home is decorated nicely, tons of towels and kitchen stuff. Lots of comfortable beds.

Perfect family house!

We loved this place for our 3 Gen family and dog. The pool was beautiful, the house was spacious and well set up, with plenty of towels, dishes, even fishing gear and kayaks. We loved it and would definitely rent again. Close to some terrific restaurants and right on the water.

Summer family vaca 2024

We just returned from another family vacation and made it thru our first hurricane!! This year we stayed at the Hibiscus House and it was wonderful! Very clean, plenty of room, and furnished with the things we needed for our week. Plenty of towels, dishes, and glassware. if you plan on baking you may want to bring a mixing bowl and 9x13 pans. We were able to easily pick up disposable ones at the Dollar General nearby. There is a nice sized playroom that can easily be used as another bedroom if you bring an air mattress. Our grandkids loved the pool and fishing. Lots of shopping nearby but it was a drive to other attractions. We wouldn’t hesitate to return !

The only complaint would be that it could have been a little cleaner but wasn’t awful. Also some shower issues with water not being hot for showers. But we had an amazing time and our favorite thing was the kayaks! The neighborhood is amazing! Some parts of the house need updating/repair (broken door handle, container that holds life vest was falling apart) but overall the house is huge and decorated very nice and I would definitely stay here again!

Great vacation home!

Our family recently stayed at this property for a week. The home is very nice with much open space. Our family does a vacation every 2 years and our group agreed this was the best vacation home we're rented. The host was very responsive to questions before, during, and after our rental was complete.
