Quiet suburb just a few hundred metres down from the bustle of Newton. Plenty of cafes and local neighbourhood vibe. The pub under the rooms was pretty good, dog friendly, and very busy on a Sunday arvo. This is pub accommodation, so don’t expect too much. The room was very big and clean. The bed was a double, not a queen. Had a toilet and hand wash basin in the room. The big disappointment was that the communal showers had zero hot water. We had cold showers.

Price is good and a friendly staff member helped me carry my luggage upstairs. The neighborhood is great! Hotel is above a pub, I was there on a Thursday night and it was quiet. No air conditioning, there is a ceiling fan. It was hot the night I was there. Sheets were clean, carpets were stained. My room had an en-suite with sink and toilet, shower down the hall. Hotel was clean, but pretty dated.

We tried to stay at the Erko however the room wasn't in a fit state, sockets hanging off the wall and stains on the toilet door which looked suspiciously like blood sprayed on it - We didn't bother unpacking and the hotel offered us a refund given the state of the room / they didn't have any others available despite the fact our booking had a no refund clause. 3 months later now and still no refund so the Manager stops taking calls. I'd avoid it totally. To be fair the duty manager on at the time did offer to help us find other accommodation / a meal as recompense.

Great little room with a comfy bed in a great location. The only issue I had was the rooms do not have air conditioning, so the room was sweltering hot (I stayed late January), and even with the window open the room did not cool down in the slightest. There is a ceiling fan, but it just pushed the hot air around. I would say it was probably the worst nights sleep I’ve ever had, but that was purely from the heat. Everything else about the place was comfy/convenient.

While being a marvel of the animal kingdom Cockroaches are not the most welcome of guests. Despite this, they inhabit the erko in abundance. I saw more roaches than people. The location however, is impossible to ignore. The proximity to Newtown and lively pub beneath are the venues biggest selling point. Ultimately, if you don't mind fighting off a few roaches in the shower, you will enjoy your stay.

The Erko is a little gem! The friendly and helpful staff are genuine in their desire to ensure you have a good stay. And we did! The room and shared bathrooms were clean and just what we needed for our weekend trip to Sydney.

In town for a 30th so I just needed a solid overnighter. No frills pragmatic affordable stay for a couple. Staff were great, check it was very quick and straight forward. Would book again in a pinch no dramas. No air or heating - wasn't an issue for us this stay as it was a temperate time of year, but I can imagine it could get really cold or hot, but who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The location was excellent, close to the train station, with everything you need close by. The family room was spacious enough for a family of four, but we felt we would have liked a table or sofa for entertaining. Staff were very friendly and made us feel at ease. It was a wonderful trip and we would definitely stay there again.

Great location! When I booked I didn't realise the hotel was above a pub (I was in a rush when I booked :|). I'd booked for a Friday and Saturday night, but when I checked in, they said it was quiet in the rooms. It wasn't. I was also really worried I was going to lock myself out of the room when I used the toilet and bathroom facilities (as they are keyed doors).

The check-in staff member was lovely and helpful. A really comfortable, clean room. I'd only suggest somewhere to hang wet towels. I'd definitely stay again.

For an overnight stay on Sunday night ready for an early airport pickup, an excellent choice. Comfortable bed, nice clean bathrooms and convenient basic kitchen. Quite surprised how quiet the room was, as the pub was packed. We were on the side with afternoon sun which I think would make the room pretty hot in Summer. We were lucky to get a spot in the car park but otherwise street parking The area has numerous choices of cafes and restaurants and a great vibe.
