Je recommande chaleureusement
Endroit calme et à l'écart de la civilisation. Parfait pour se poser et se reposer avant de reprendre la route. Personnel très accueillant et agréable. Nous avons dîné au restaurant, le repas était délicieux, les prix abordables et le chef chante très bien 😉😊 Merci pour votre professionnalisme.

Second time I’ve stayed here, however this time I was in the newer part to the right of reception. It was not as comfortable as the older part of the hotel. Bed was very soft and uncomfortable. No menu at breakfast hut there is hot food which you have to decide on the spot. Dinner was good. Good selection of drinks.

This place is a hidden gem! I have been staying at budget accommodations, trying to keep it around $100 CAD per night, including breakfast. With that in mind, this place is an incredible value. The building has character and is a bit quirky. The room was very spacious, and the bathroom was renovated. The grounds are beautiful, and it is very close to Lunan Beach. The Scottish breakfast was outstanding and very filling. The people who work here are incredibly friendly and helpful. I can’t believe this place isn’t packed!

I felt the set up was great here, especially if you are travelling with a dog. The rooms were very spacious and clean, there is a place to eat linked with the Guest House and a lovely beach and cafe within a few hundred yards

By the beach
Good location for sightseeing up the east coast. We had disability room which was adequate but on the small side. I moved the open wardrobe, (which was easy) to allow my husbands small boot scooter access to the room. On information sheet it said to put hanger on door if wanted room serviced which would be fresh towels and bins emptied. We did this after 2nd night. Got fresh towels but bins were not emptied. Bar restaurant next to main building limited bar menu but what we had was good. Confusion at breakfast whether it had been paid or was included, girl had to ask which I felt not fair on her, they need to sort their system. My husband had full cooked breakfast which he enjoyed. The walks on Lunan bay beach (2 mins away )were delightful such a beautiful clean beach. Staff excellent very pleasant and helpful.

Very disappointing stay
We were in the annexe. Albeit clean and refurbished we felt like we were staying in a Care Home (which it previously was). The bathroom was a sorry state. A tiny hand basin. The shower was pitiful. Breakfast included. First morning - This was good but our second morning was very poor. No plates. No glasses for fruit juice. No coffee. Hot breakfast i had to ask for items to be replenished. Only one member of staff dealing with everything. Very very disappointing. I'm afraid we won't be back.

Hi Alan, Thank you for your review, we have taken this onboard and from now on there will always be 2 members of breakfast staff to hopefully ensure a better breakfast experience. As for the bathrooms, they are due to be upgraded in the near future.

Amazing hotel and restaurant! Food is amazing and staff are very friendly. Extremely dog friendly and welcomed my dog everywhere. Plenty walking to do around the area and the beach is outstanding.

Overnight stay
We stayed here overnight after attending an event nearby. The hotel has a lovely situation within walking distance of Lunan Bay, the staff were friendly and the accommodation very comfortable. I would certainly stay here again.

Fabulous area check what kind of room you are book
Fabulous situation with stunning Lunan Bay a couple of minutes walk away. Hotel gardens are well tended and nice to sit in. The booking page shows the lovely old house hotel but when we arrived we found our room was in a dull extension which resembled old university halls of residence. The basic halls of residence had the edge as they provided a desk and chair! Think we were in a single room with two beds which meant there was no room for a chair! Room was en-suite but the bathroom door was very difficult to shut as it was distorted. Toilet seat cracked Beds were very comfortable and the receptionist at check in was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again but would check I was booking a room in the house!

A lovely break away, including the dog.
A great location, 5 minutes walk from a lovely beach. A very nice room in a nice hotel and the food was good in the grill bar too. Service was however very slow but we were not in any hurry. Dog friendly throughout with a small additional fee payable for each dog. Nice garden to exercise the dog and plenty of seats outside and inside too. I will certainly think of going back.

Excellent Stay
This hotel was fantastic. We stayed in the superior family room and couldn't have loved it more. The beds were comfortable, The room and massive bathroom were both spotless. The staff we spoke to were lovely and attentive and the meal in the bar and grill was also very pleasant. We would recommend this to others and we can't wait to come back.

Beautiful place to stay.
Beautiful hotel to stay in. Room was clean, comfortable and very well decorated. My boyfriend and I stayed over night the night before a strongman competition and it felt like pure luxury. I relaxed in the huge bath with a wine and read my book. Bliss. The restaurant was lovely, spacious and dog friendly. The staff were fantastic and made us feel very welcome. The only issue we had was that the wifi did not work at all in our room. Wouldn’t connect on the TV and we sat rather bored in the evening since the rain was on so couldn’t go for a wander.

Just Beautiful
Stayed there Three years in a row now and always have the most wonderful time, the staff are all very polite and welcoming and we've tried many of the rooms from the bunkhouse to the bridal suite, all of which are great value for money. The beds are extremely comfortable throughout. The Bar & Grill has a range of meals and drinks at afforable prices and the breakfast in the morning is a must! Very clean, beautiful garden, close to the beach. Lovely room, good facilities. Again, gardens are gorgeous! Would have been nice if we were walked to our room and had the property explained to us in terms of sitting area etc

Good econimical hotel, accommodation good, great evening meal at bar, 10 minute walk to superb Lunan Bay. Staff very friendly and helpful . Dogs allowed in rooms.

Nice getaway and good value for money.
Accommodation was nice having clearly had recent work done although the finish isn't top quality. Beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. WiFi signal was poor and dropped constantly in the room we we're in however elsewhere this seemed good. Bathroom was recently decorated however the worst issue was the shower which went from scalding hot to cold constantly. The water pressure was very low which meant shower wasn't the most refreshing. Overall nice place to stay and seems good value for money, beautiful setting, close to the beach. Great for dogs and the restaurant provided good pub grub and a nice atmosphere. I know that older properties can struggle with plumbing but if that could be resolved then this would be an almost perfect review. I would and most probably will stay again in the future.

Lovely spot, beautiful grounds, friendly staff
We booked a room for a weekend (two adults, two children under 3). The hotel itself was full of character, as were the grounds, which my little boy enjoyed running around in. Nice walks nearby too with the ruined castle and beautiful bay. The bar/restaurant serves good quality traditional meals, and the long table and bench set up suited us well. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. Nearby we went to Montrose, and enjoyed a visit to the air field heritage centre and an excellent kids park beside the water and golf courses.

Stay marred by inconsiderate residents.
We had a lovely dinner, bed and breakfast for an event. Marred only by horrendous noise of talking, laughing and music in next door room. It started late afternoon. It began again at midnight and despite knocks on the wall, continued until around 04.00. Apparently two young men on business. We hardly slept and felt dreadful the next day. Staff apologetic but maybe more emphasis on alerting residents on quiet rooms after 11.00.
