Comfortable house with good amenities. Clean and modern. Well stocked kitchen. Our family enjoyed the snow in Bear Valley while staying in Arnold below the snow line. Ten minutes drive to Big Trees market and central Arnold.

I definitely recommend this cabin. Really comfortable, great sunny deck among the trees, EPIC Lego bin kept the kids happy and occupied. One thing to consider is that only one of the lakes nearby allows dogs in the beach area (even on leash). So while this cabin does allow pets, which we really appreciated, there's not many local things you can do with them besides walks. Having said that, our pup still had a great time galvanting around the forest and I would definitely return to this spot. Heard a mountain lion on the last night. Been coming to this area since I was a baby, love how wild it still is!

This is an excellent VRBO, we loved staying here! A wonderful place to stay. It’d be great if you could include in your checkin/welcome email where to find the small lockbox on a post facing the door. (And include a small note on the garage lockbox redirecting people to the post.) We did not have iPhone connectivity & had to go back to the Fire Station in town to have them call you for us. It might be even better to get a digital entry pad on the front door. Otherwise, everything was great! Thanks!!

Quiet house in the woods

Well stocked, clean and comfy. One anomaly was the round coffee filters for a cone shaped machine. The deck on the back porch had lots of nail heads raised, so don’t go out barefoot.

Extended Weekend Stay

The cabin was perfect for our little family of 5 (parents 3 toddlers) for an extended weekend stay. The place was clean, the bunkbeds were perfect for the kids (they had a blast playing with the big bin of legos), and the beds were firm and very comfortable. Check-in was super easy - we had a bit of trouble finding the lockbox but was able to call the property management and they were very responsive. We also noticed the coffee maker was broken and the property manager was able to drop off a brand new coffee maker the next morning, which was so nice. The kitchen was fully stocked - it even had a fully stocked spice cabinet. We were there to spend time in the snow, so we drove to Spicer Snow park and Bear Valley Adventure Co for sledding, which was only 25-30 min drive. There's a supermarket down the hill when you come down Moran Rd - super convenient for grabbing food/supplies. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much.

Exactly what we needed

This property was totally clean and the posted photos are accurate. Plus the management was very thoughtful; they even turned on the A/C so the house was nicely cool before we arrived. (The weather was unusually hot). The little lake was lovely & also thoughtfully set up for small children. Our friends own a house a block away & close to Sequoia Woods, so the neighborhood is perfect for us as well! I will encourage other friends to rent this little house too! Thank you!

Overall this place was great for our family. We weren’t too familiar with the Arnold area and found that if you’re staying there to go to New Malones it is a greater distance than we would have liked but would love this place again if we want to stay closer to Arnold and do Big Trees again as well. The one piece of feedback or clarification I will make is that it is advertised with ‘lake access’ which makes it sound as though the property is right at/near the water and it’s not. You do need to drive to access the ‘lake’ which is really small. However the home itself was cute and the space was what we needed. I’m unclear who I was in communication with, I assume the rental mgt company- but there communication was great and Derek was very helpful!

Perfect for our family of 5

We stayed in Arnold to see a few days at Bear Valley. The house had everything we needed and the kids loved the bunk bed set up. Our kids are small still (3,5,7 years old) so the space was just right. If there were more adults or older children it might be a little tight. We would highly recommend this house for future visits!

Made nice memories with my family!

We booked this property to stay for our Yosemite trip even though it was 3 hrs away from Yosemite. The area was so nice and quiet at one point I was considering not going to Yosemite. The cabin is located in the redwood forest. There are couple of lakes, playground and even a golf course nearby. Grocery store is 10 minutes away. Very poor T-mobile reception but cabin's wifi was pretty fast. Inside the cabin was very cozy and equipped with everything you may need. From flashlights to hiking backpacks to helmet. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook steak, breakfast, even a cake. I also loved how Harman Kardon speaker sounded. We enjoyed our stay very much and will miss and hope we will be back soon.

Great stay!

Very clean, great showers, comfortable beds, air conditioners worked very well, which was great because it was hot. Beautiful setting! There were inner tubes etc. for use at the lake but the pump didn’t work to blow them up (seemed to be missing a part). The property manager told me that issue would be addressed and was very responsive when I texted with a number of questions.

Peaceful

Cozy cabin with everything you need for a nice weekend trip. One thing I will say is the cooling systems in the rooms have lights that flash frequently which make it difficult to fall asleep. Overall a wonderful place!

Kitchen well stocked, comfortable bed!

The unit was clean. The kitchen was very well stocked with new housewares, appeared newly remodeled, and had everything we needed to make Thanksgiving dinner. It was nice to have the dish washer, too. The primary bedroom bed was very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful due to its distance from the highway and very little traffic. The wood stove was easy to use and kept the place toasty and the mini-splits worked great, too. However the blinky lights on the sides need to be covered up better for at night.

Squirrel Away Haven Getaway

Another stay here at this wonderful house, full of amenities, comfortable, close to outdoor activities, remodeled kitchen adds a nice touch. The only minor glitch is the blinking lites on the new AC units light up the rooms all night. Thanks again Bill Randall

Wonderful Home, Great Location

We stayed over a long weekend and took the kids up to the snow. This home was spotless, very well equipped, and was perfect for our small family group. In early February, it was close to the snowline, and lake access was wonderful. We found it to be a great value we will be back!

Great little cabin in the woods

Very nice cabin with lots of great amenities, like an Alexa for music while cooking and lots of games for the littles. There are even some rafts for the lake, but we didn’t need them since we had enough of our own this time! Kitchen is fully stocked and there are many fans to help cool the cabin in the evenings. The beds are very firm, so if you’re super sensitive, may want an extra blanket or two to soften them up a bit, but that’s such a small thing compared to everything else being so great! Wonderful location - we can’t wait to go back!!

Wonderful Stay at Sqirrel Away
