Great location in downtown Asheville. It’s a short walk to excellent restaurants and only a short drive to the Biltmore.
There were great amenities in the room, like a separate bedroom, kitchen, washer/dryer and spacious living area. The staff were responsive to the guest and I felt secure at the location in downtown.
The issue for my wife and I was that it had more of a feel of a timeshare. There was no bar or restaurant in the hotel, which means there was no room service. As a traveler, room service breakfast is a luxury. Although there was a full kitchen, this trip was to get away from that.
There was no valet and parking was awkwardly a block and a half away. Which, of course, we got to the hotel in a torrential downpour and the walk back from parking was a mess.
Although we received clean towels on demand, there was no consistent housekeeping.
The staff was very responsive to problems, but due to the building being older the living room was drafty and we had issues with heat. Staff were puzzled by the problem, but ultimately it got fixed. The last morning a crazy smoke detector went off and did a high wire act to turn it off.
It’s considered a boutique hotel, but it’s more like an Air B&B. If I were a long term traveler or looking for a home base for a business stay, this is a great place. It’s apartment living, but for a vacation to relax for a couple days, in the future we’d go up the street a little ways to one of the luxury chains and get room service.
