A wonderful week was spent at Neap Tide. The cottage is cozy, super clean and the views are exceptional. The hosts were fantastic and genuinely want their guests to have a great time.
Beautiful, well appointed cottage in idyllic waterfront location with fantastic hosts. You will never find a better place to vacation. We absolutely loved staying here; we only wish that we can give it more than five stars! This place is a true gem!
We have just returned home from an absolutely incredible trip staying in this cottage. Everything was absolutely perfect and as described. I dont even know what the best part was. The incredible view or the amazing sand beach. We explored the cove at low tide and used the lounge chairs to sun bathe and read at high tide. The living room chairs were super comfy to sit and watch the seals, eagles, osprey, bunnys and humming birds. It was a perfect centralized location for our planned trips and activities. A small maintenance issue was taken care of swiftly in a matter of minutes. Matthew and Nathalie were gracious hosts that were responsive to any question.
The beds were a tad bit on the harder side, but we slept well. There are fans there for the warmer nights, however, we only needed them 1 or 2 nights. The breeze from the water is amazing.
Highly recommended for an off the beaten path quiet cottage.
I have stayed in the area many times but this was a first finding a sand beach! Hosts are wonderful, cottage is impeccable and the eagles, hares, and deer share their outdoor abode (tell the porcupine to get lost). Enjoy!
We had such a lovely week at Neap Tide again this year. We feel lucky to have found this magical place last summer. The house has everything we needed, just perfect for us and a pleasure to stay in. The views cannot be beat, there is a wonderful deck, grassy area for play, and exquisite beach. This is an amazing place to disconnect and take in beauty everywhere you turn. The owners are lovely and we canât wait to return next summer.
Ok, thereâs no place thatâs nirvana, but if there is, this is it, We spent.many hours just enjoying the view from the living room. The sky, the water, everything changed at natures pace and relaxation ensued. Itâs a lovely cabin, with a stunning view. We saw a bald eagle, a porcupine who spent an afternoon foraging in the yard, snowshoe hair, raccoons , and more during our stay. The beach is unbelievable. The sand is ultra soft. The local seafood was also noteworthy. Whatâs not to like?
Nathalie and Matt were amazing property owners. It was a great escape from everyday life, but still having everything we needed. Neap tide was super clean, and the views of the ocean from the house were gorgeous! The beach was clean, and very spacious, and we had it all to ourselves! Definitely would do it again, such an amazing experience.
My family and I loved staying at this property. I booked this months in advance, and was worried when the time finally came around for our vacation in Maine, that I may have built it up in my mind too much. I did not. Neap Tide is even more beautiful than the pictures show. In fact, this is one of the most beautiful places Iâve ever stayed at. The cottage was convenient, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The beach was beautiful with many interesting rocks to climb. My husband and I were there with our two older teenage sons, and they were not bored. We kayaked, climbed the rocks, and hiked nearby trails suggested to us by our hosts, Nathalie and Matthew. They were available for any questions we had, but also gave us privacy. Their house was nearby, also on the water, but the layout allowed for great privacy - the houses are totally separated by a grove of fir trees. We made a day trip to Acadia, which was about an hour away and an easygoing drive. The driveway to get to the cottage was long and a little narrow, but our car did not have any problems on it. We did not have a problem with cell phone reception. There was no Wi-Fi, but that was the kind of vacation we needed. We played games in the evenings in front of the fire in the stove in the corner of the living room. It was the kind of vacation we always wanted to have, and it turned out that we all loved it.
We were extremely pleased with our stay at Neap Tide the first week in October. The owners were super friendly and accommodating. The house was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Very secluded and peaceful, yet minutes from town. Lots of wildlife, spectacular views
and several attractions nearby that are absolutely breathtaking. Was everything we hoped for and more!
Very quiet setting. Seems remote yet only a few minutes from town. Rarely if ever have we seen a kitchen so well stocked with any equipment you could need. Reasonably close to Bangor and all coastal points âdown eastâ. Enjoyed almost 2 weeks here. Wildlife watching was superb!

We spent a week in Neap Tide with the goal of doing nothing and enjoying it, and Neap Tide turned out to be the perfect place to do this.
Whether reading on the couch inside or sitting on the comfortable chairs outside, there were views of islands, pines, and the water right out the window, with the local Bald Eagle flying by every so often. The white sand beach is a few steps away, and is empty. The house feels very private. The owners, Matthew and Nathalie, were very friendly yet respectful of our privacy, and were very responsive.
Inside, the house is very pleasing. The wood and windows give it an open, light airy feel. The kitchen has more than I expected in the way of pantry items, including a variety of ways to make coffee. The outdoor shower is a very nice option, with quick hot water and cool air.
We were a little concerned about being off-grid but needn't have worried. The solar power is sufficient for the electrical needs, and for those bringing an electric car (as we did) there are two free J1772 recharging locations in Milbridge (not on ChargePoint as of this writing - they are located on Maple St. just off Rt. 1). Being away from TV and WiFi was part of the plan, and we were. Cell phone coverage was sufficient - we were able to make Zoom and other calls from the house.
Milbridge is ten minutes away by car and offers a substantial grocery store, several eateries ('The Meadows' was particularly tasty), an art gallery and other offerings. Mount Desert Island/Acadia are an easy day trip away.
We look forward to staying at Neap Tide again.
My wife and I stayed at Neap Tide cottage for a week in mid September 2020. The view and setting of the cottage are amazing. It looks out onto a large bay framed by pine and spruce trees, with a few small islands in the far distance. You donât see a single house along the miles of pristine shoreline and very few boats. In the morning a few lobster boats can be seen in the distance hauling their traps. In front of the house is a private long sandy beach that you can walk on. The setting is private, quiet, and very peaceful.
The house is nicely set up to take advantage of the view. Two large sliding glass doors from the living and dining areas open onto a deck overlooking the bay and beach. The master bedroom on the second floor also looks out onto the bay, and the deck in the front of the house is perfect for enjoying the view. It was very clean and well stocked with kitchen and other supplies. The interior is bright and sunny and the furniture is simple, new, and attractive. The website photos give you a good idea of the house and setting. The owners, who live in a house about 100 yards away and out of sight, were very friendly and helpful, and any questions week quickly answered. The only minor issue we had is that the house is on a one lane dirt road thatâs just under a mile. We met only one car during the entire week we were there, and passing it was a bit of a squeeze. But itâs less than 10 minutes to the center of town which has a few restaurants and takeouts, a fish market, and a good sized supermarket.
This part of the Maine east of Ellsworth is often referred to as the âreal Maine.â Itâs quiet and largely unchanged and undeveloped, with small picturesque working fishing villages where lobstering is the main, and sometimes the only, commercial activity. The coastal views of trees, islands, harbors and lobster boats are incredible, and there are many nearby places for hiking and biking. Schoodic Point, a separate smaller and much quieter section of Acadia National Park in Winter Harbor, is about 45 minutes from the cottage. Iâd highly recommend Neap Tide cottage as a base for exploring the many things this part of Maine has to offer.
