We stayed for 11 days and the apartment is as it states. The best bit is the views from the balcony, canât beat it, but the whole apartment needs updating. If a few hundred euros was spent then the charge could be doubled so I suppose itâs good value for what it is.Overall it was surface clean but the bed base was mucky, as well as the spare pillows. The drawers were think with dust. Bidet was broken. On the balcony there are planters, but full of weeds. Again a bit of attention is needed. The apartment is opposite a derelict building but is close to everything. We didnât go out late at night but felt perfectly safe in and around. Plenty of good bars and restaurants.
While the view from the terrace of Mt Etna is the selling point, this so-called apartment is very disappointing otherwise. It is more like a small hotel room with a kitchenette area in the entrance, and the overall impression is dated and run down. The armchair was stained, ghe curtajns were half hanging off the curtain rod. Two lights did not work, including the main bathroom light - luckily there was another light over the mirror so we could see. The tiles in the bathroom were also cracked and it smelled damp. The wall clock didn't work and the smoke alarm had its battery hanging out. The room was not very vlean - dust bunnies under the bed, and I had to wipe the sink area down. We would have been prepared to ignore all of this, except for the lack of functioning air conditioning which made tge stay unbearable. The unit makes a lot of noise but does not cool down the room at all, despite settibg it to 18 degrees - and it also leaks water all over the terrace (which makes the one nice aspect of the place less attractive.)
The terrace also has several planters containing dead plants.
All in all very disappointing, and in fact we checked out after one awful sleepless night in the heat (having paid for three). It feels a lot like someone is simply trying to wring money out of tourists without doing any work to maintain the place. Avoid.
Great location for exploring Catania and a fantastic terrace with a view of Etna
The apartment is located very close to the centre of Catania but is in a quiet area. Easy walking distance to the main piazza and several very good restaurants and wine bars (Nelson in particular) very close by.
This apartment has potential because of convenient location and stunning view from balcony, but it is a missed opportunity. It was very dirty: dust-covered floors, mud on balcony floor and furniture (boot print on a chair), dingy stained indoor furniture, drapery hanging unattached from rod, crumpled dish cloth in back of cabinet under sink. Management unresponsive. No apology or offer to send cleaners.
