It was close to McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs & Dragon's Head trailheads. Loved the charm of the updated 1940's cottage (all modern conveniences). Easy scenic drives in all directions. Great coffee & food: Sycamore Station, Salem & Lemon & Vale Cakery, New Castle. See covered bridges near Newport & Dismal Falls. Easy scenic drive to Beartown Park, West Virginia, with awesome boardwalk thru stunning rock formations.
Loved our stay. In town for wedding close by. We also got to take advantage of the trails near by. Everything we needed was provided and ower was very prompt to respond.
Cozy, neat and perfect location for recent AT section hike. Great for slack packing days around McAfee Knob and Dragonâs Tooth trail attractions. Playground in town was perfect for the grandkids play time. Close enough to enjoy the amenities of Daleville, Troutville and Roanoke. Only detractions were the lack of immediate food options in Catawba and the obstructive view of the oncoming traffic from the driveway.
This property is a very convenient location to Roanoke and Salem, but is secluded enough you are away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. The property has been lovingly restored and has all modern amenities. Property manager was responsive and check-in was super easy. Great little mountain getaway!
Nicely renovated old home with thoughtful small touches throughout! Very convenient to popular hiking trails. The trailhead of a connector to the Appalachian Trail and McAffee Knob is within a 5 minute walk. Also an easy drive into Roanoke/Salem for shopping and entertainment.
We plan to stay here again the next time we're in the area. A great little gem!
We had a great stay at this cabin while mountain biking and hiking in the area. It had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the atmosphere quiet. The location was 10 minutes from every where we needed to go. I would definitely recommend ot!
This house was perfect for our stay in Catawba. Some of us were hiking the nearby Appalachian Trail/Virginia Triple Crown. Some of us day hiked to Dragon's Tooth. The house was scrupulously clean and modern. So wonderfully quiet. The kitchen was well stocked and had a really nice knife set, making cooking so much easier. The beds, sofa, and chairs were very comfortable. The house was well stocked with soap, detergent, towels, etc. Very dog friendly. Outdoor spaces like the porch and fire pit were perfect. All of us including the dog loved it.
We had a lovely month in what we called our little country house. It was far from rustic, with a lovely modern kitchen ad bathroom, attractive decor, and a wonderful yard which our dog, Max, loved. We were only about 20 minutes from downtown Roanoke and even closer to Salem. All in all we had a lovely time in the Catawba Valley.
