Voyage en famille

We enjoyed our stay at the Caye Caulker waterfront home and found the house itself to be nice, clean, and well maintained, with truly spectacular ocean views. The owner was very communicative and responsive prior to our stay, which we appreciated.
Finding the property was a bit challenging, as it is located a distance from town. Renting a golf cart was essential and ultimately very helpful. During our stay, it rained heavily, and the road leading to the house became extremely muddy with large puddles, which made arrival difficult and resulted in our luggage getting muddy on the first night.
While the views are beautiful, there is no direct water access, as the nearby docks are privately owned. Because of this, and due to limited amenities at the house, we spent most of our time in town. The indoor common area was somewhat limited for group gathering and did not offer games or things to do.
There were a few surprises that would have been helpful to know in advance. Solar electricity went out overnight, and the only flashlight provided did not work. There was no hot water, no soap or shampoo despite being listed, and very limited cooking supplies such as oil or seasonings. The oven was also not functioning during our stay. On a positive note, the host provided a trash bag on our last day, which was very helpful with mud.
The home has four beds (one queen), & fifth guest is considered extra and charged accordingly. The hefty $3k dep is charged and not returned for weeks.
