Staying at the San Salvatore Monastery is pure magic. Views and location are incredible. Irene and her team provide excellent support and service, including Cretan breakfast, supplies for a beach trip, help with transportation, etc. The monastery is so beautiful and one of the most unique properties our family has seen. If you are traveling to Chania, this is a must!

We loved our stay here at San Salvatore. The description doesn’t do it enough justice. You are staying on the actual Venetian wall in the middle of the harbor. It’s a lovely room with lots of space and a private terrace all to yourself. VIP feeling in a place older than the surrounding city. Irene was lovely and very helpful with all things. 10/10!

San Salvatore is a fantastic property, very historical yet done up to a very high standard. It is in a very quiet area but very close/within a walking distance to the city centre in Chania and with a great views across to Chania harbour and the lighthouse. Irene was an amazing host, extremely helpful and kind which made our stay really memorable.

Lovely property
One of the loveliest places I’ve stayed in, so close to everything in the whole town. Very clean and wonderful modern bathroom. The owner was so receptive to all our questions and always there. Breakfast was so personalized and delivered to our room. I felt like I was in a historic resort. The only challenge is parking which is on the street but you don’t need a car for Chania. We chose to drive because we wanted to see the rest of Crete. I would love to stay here again

This property is very nice great views. I don’t think it was worth the asking price though. Lastly, the property manager will go in the room randomly without permission . Was charged extra fees due to “excessive food”, and all I had was peanuts no dinner items. I got a random text asking me not to drink so much while out in the shopping area on my wife on our honeymoon. I thought this was a bit odd.

Les points faibles : Services et équipements et communication
In all our travels, we have never taken the time to write a review on a property. With what we had to deal with at San Salvatore Monastery, I feel compelled to share our experience. We mistakenly stated two people when making the reservation online instead of our party of 4. On our arrival, the proprietor, Irene Anousaki, let us know that there would be an upcharge for the two children, and it would be double the price for the same room. The unit we were given had a loft with a queen bed and the downstairs area had a double bed, a bathroom and a kitchen. The kitchen unbelievably did not have a refrigerator, and when we inquired about this, Irene responded that the kitchen itself does not come with the unit…with no explanation...and that food was not allowed to be brought into the unit. As far as the beds…the double had an extremely hard mattress We asked to have a topper applied to make it tolerable for our second night and it was supplied for an additional 10 euros. What really put a bad taste in our mouth about San Salvatore Monastery was our checkout. Check-out time was stated as 11:00 AM. We notified Irene that we were checking out a just a few minutes after 11 am (11:15 to be exact) and we were then told that we would be charged an additional 150 euros for leaving 15 minutes late! She eventually agreed to not charge us given our dissatisfaction with our stay, but she ended up charging us anyway.
